Iroquois Amphitheater: Movies Under the Stars

Iroquois Amphitheater

Can the Guardians of Childhood stop a world of total darkness and fear? The answer lies in “The Rise of the Guardians.” The 2012 DreamWorks animated film is part of the Summer of Free Movies at Iroquois Amphitheater on Saturday, August 24th.

“Rise of the Guardians” tells the story of how Jack Frost is recruited by Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy and the Sandman, all Guardians of Childhood, to stop Pitch Black from throwing the world’s children into darkness. It stars the voices of Chris Pine, Alec Baldwin, Hugh Jackman and Jude Law. The movie is free and begins at 8:30pm. The concession stand is open.

“Movies Under the Stars” is sponsored by Council members Butler, Welch, Johnson, Yates, Blackwell, Woolridge, James, Ward-Pugh, Fowler, Downard, Engel, Benson, Ackerson, Owen, Hamilton, King and Scott. For more information about the Iroquois Amphitheater, go to www.iroquoisamphithearter.com.

Dog Park at Waverly Update

The parking lot expansion phase that increased parking capacity by 50 slots has been finished.  This was needed to accommodate the anticipated increase of park users expected with the opening of Southwest Louisville's first off-leash dog park.  The Louisville Dog Run Association, which will build and maintain this great off-leash dog run, has been a great partner in this project.  There will be two joined but separate fenced areas for dogs and their families to enjoy.  We hope that construction will begin soon and only last about a week.
