Councilmen Stuart Benson (District 20), Kevin Kramer (District 11) and Robin Engel (District 22) in conjunction with the Metro Health Department, the Partnership for Cancer Control, the Kentucky Cancer Program and the National Brest Cancer Foundation are hosting a Mobile Mammography Clinic for area women age 40 and over. The clinic will be conducted at the Glenridge Health Campus (6415 Calm River Way) on Monday, September 16 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.
The University of Louisville James Graham Brown Cancer Center will conduct the screenings with insurance being filed for those persons with coverage. Persons without health insurance who are income-eligible will be provided screenings free of change. Although reservations are not required, they are encouraged to assist in the operation of this program and appointments will be honored first. Persons interested in scheduling an appointment or in need of additional information are encouraged to call Angela Webster in Councilman Benson’s office at 574-3465.
Eligible women: The target is women age 40 to 64 who are low income and/or uninsured. Women age 65 and over may participate in the screening; however, the Brown Cancer Center will file Medicare to pay for these individuals.

Military Monday
In honor of the United States Military, the Kentucky State Fair celebrates patrons who serve or have served our country. Military Monday on August 19 offers all active duty and veteran military and their family members half off admission and $12 wristbands. Valid military ID is required.

Senior Day & Early Bird Special
Two special discount days at the Fair offer lower admission prices to patrons. Seniors 55 and up will be admitted for $1 on Humana Senior Discount Day, Tuesday, August 20. The discount ends at 6 p.m. Fairgoers that arrive by noon pay only $6 admission on Wednesday, August 21. No coupon is necessary for either discount.

Thrillway
Thrill seekers at the Kentucky State Fair can now purchase Thrillway wristbands that allow for unlimited rides every day of the Fair. This is the first year wristbands are available on weekends. Prices range from $15-$25, depending on the day with no age restrictions. Also new this year, Thrillway Express Passes will provide fairgoers with front of the line access. The pass will be sold at the Thrillway ticket booths on a limited first-come, first-serve basis each day and is good for the day the pass is purchased. Thrillway Express Passes will be available for $15 plus the cost of the wristband or ticket package purchased.

New Weekend Parking Plan
The Kentucky State Fair Board is planning to help alleviate parking congestion and improve the experience for fairgoers during both weekends of the Fair, August 16-18 and 23-25.
Free off-site parking will be available in the Green Lot of Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium, Sections B &C off of Floyd Street. Fairgoers can purchase admission at the Green Lot or present advance discount tickets prior to boarding shuttles. Free parking and free shuttles sponsored by Miller Transportation and the Louisville Convention & Visitor’s Bureau.
In addition, the new Five Dollar Lot will be opened on the site of the former Executive Inn Hotel, adjacent to the fairgrounds. Shuttles will bring fairgoers to the pedestrian admission gate.
A new entrance point will also be opened on the weekends. This entrance point at East Adair Street off Phillips Lane is best accessed from Crittenden Drive. Parking is $8.

Pothole patching, sweeping, drain & ditch cleaning, pavement marking, and maintenance crews may work on major interstates in the Louisville Metro area only during non-peak daytime hours and at night. Motorists should watch for roadside maintenance and pavement marking crews on interstates and highways throughout the rest of the district on a daily basis.
Jefferson County:
Southbound Interstate 65: The exit ramp to St. Catherine Street (Exit 135) is closed for bridge pier cap replacement. This ramp closure will continue through the end of September. A signed detour is in place via I-65 South to Arthur Street. From there motorists will be directed to East Brandeis Avenue and South Brook Street where they can access St. Catherine Street.
Interstate 265 (Gene Snyder Freeway): Lane closures and delays possible in both directions between KY 146 (LaGrange Road) and Westport Road (mile points 30.3 and 32.5) due to concrete pavement repairs and roadway striping. The roadway may be reduced to one lane in each direction on weeknights Monday – Friday from 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. the following morning and on weekends from 8:00 p.m. on Friday until 6:00 a.m. on Monday.
Interstate 264 (Watterson Expressway): Lane closures and delays possible between Browns Lane and Westport Road (mile points 18.4 and 20.7) due to concrete pavement repairs. Lane and ramp closures are possible weeknights from 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. the following morning and on weekends from 8:00 p.m. on Friday until 6:00 a.m. on Monday. Shoulder closures are possible during the day due to ditch line repairs.
US 31E (Bardstown Road): Lane closures and delays possible between Brentlinger Lane and the I-265 interchange (mile points 4.3 and 5.0) due to roadway widening. Lane closures are possible weeknights Monday – Thursday from 8:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. the following morning. On weekends, lane closures are possible from 8:00 p.m. on Friday until 5:00 a.m. on Monday. The speed limit is reduced in the work zone.
US 42: Lane closures and delays possible between US 31E and the Drescher Bridge (mile points 0.0 and 1.2) and between Ewing Avenue and Chenoweth Lane (mile points 1.8 and 3.8) due to roadway milling, resurfacing and striping. Lane closures are possible weekdays from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
US 60 (Frankfort Avenue): Lane closures and delays possible between Chenoweth Lane and Ewing Avenue (mile points 1.1 and 3.5) due to manhole cover adjustments. Lane closures will occur on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
KY 22: Shoulder closures and delays possible near New Chamberlain Lane (mile point 4.0) due to corrective work on the sidewalks.
KY 155 (Taylorsville Road): Lane closures and delays possible at Old Heady Road (mile point 7.5) due to traffic signal installation. Lane closures are possible weekdays from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
KY 1531 (Routt Road): Lane closures and delays possible between the Jefferson/Bullitt County line and KY 155 (mile points 0.0 and 5.6) due to roadway drainage improvements. Lane closures are possible weekdays from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
KY 1747 (Hurstbourne Parkway): Lane closures and delays possible between Bluegrass Parkway and Linn Station Road (mile points 11.6 and 12.2) due to the interchange improvement project. Lane closures are possible nightly from 9:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. the following morning. Lane closures will be in place on southbound Hurstbourne Parkway from 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 16 until 5:00 a.m. on Monday, August 19 due to roadway paving.
KY 2048 (Cannons Lane): Lane closures and delays possible between Interstate 64 and US 60 (mile points 1.3 and 2.7) due to manhole cover adjustments near Seneca Park. Lane closures are possible weekdays from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
KY 2845 (Manslick Road): Lane closures and delays possible between Preston Highway and Beulah Church Road (mile points 0.0 and 3.7) due to utility adjustments and approach work. Lane closures are possible weekdays from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
KY 2860 (Grinstead Drive): Lane closures are possible between Bardstown Road (US 31E) and Cherokee Parkway (US 60A), mile points 0.0 and 0.98) due to sidewalk ramp installation. Lane closures possible daily from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Bullitt County:
KY 434 (Main Street): Lane closures and delays possible between Church Street and Wall Street (mile points 1.52 and 1.69) in Lebanon Junction due to culvert replacement.
Franklin County:
US 127: Lane closures and delays possible between mile points 11.0 and 11.8 due to roadway striping.
Henry County:
US 42: Lane closures possible between the Oldham/Henry county line and the Henry/Trimble county line (mile points 0.0 and 1.1) due to installation of edge-line rumble strips and roadway striping.
Oldham County:
Routine maintenance
Shelby County:
Interstate 64: Heavy delays possible near Exit 32 due to setting bridge beams. Crews will need to use rolling road blocks that will slow and possibly stop traffic for approximately 15 minutes at intervals throughout the evening. Traffic on both eastbound and westbound I-64 will be affected on Monday, August 12. Rolling road blocks will only be used in the eastbound lanes on Tuesday, August 13. This work will take place from 10:00 p.m. each evening until 5:00 a.m. the following morning.
KY 55: Lane closures and delays between Breighton Boulevard and Old Brunerstown Road (mile points 5.8 and 6.6) due to roadway widening and paving. Lane closures will also be necessary on KY 55 at the bridge over I-64 on Monday evening, August 12 and Tuesday evening, August 13. Motorists should watch for construction staff that will use flagging methods to direct them through the work zone.
KY 1399: Lane closures and delays possible at the intersection with KY 1848 (mile point 2.4) due to roadway relocation.
KY 1848: Shoulder closures and construction delays possible at the I-64 interchange (mile points 4.6 to 6.4) due to roadway widening. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction. The speed limit is reduced to 35 MPH in the work zone.
Spencer County:
KY 55: Lane closures are possible on the bridge over the Salt River (mile point 6.2) due to bridge inspection. These lane closures are scheduled for Tuesday, August 13 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
KY 1060 (Plum Creek Road): Access from this road to Featherbed Hollow Road will be closed due to bridge inspection. This closure and the full closure of Featherbed Hollow Road are scheduled for Tuesday, August 20 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
Trimble County:
US 42: Lane closures expected between the Henry/Trimble county line and KY 3175 (mile points 0.0 and 6.5) due to installation of edge-line rumble strips and roadway striping.
US 421: Construction delays possible near the bridge over the Ohio River (mile points 18.7 to 19.2). The Milton-Madison Bridge is posted for a 15-ton weight limit. Vehicles in excess of 36 feet in length are also restricted due to the limited turn radius of the temporary ramps.
