New Cut / Southern Parkway Trolley Hop

Trolley Hop

Get ready for the return of the New Cut/Southern Parkway Trolley Hop July 20th, with a longer route this season! The trolley runs FREE from 10:00am to 4:00pm from Jefferson Memorial Forest to the Churchill Derby Museum with stops at shops, restaurants, and plenty of green space in between! Four trolleys will run every 20 minutes - park and ride from Iroquois Park Amphitheater or shopping centers. Find the new route map here. The New Cut/Southern Parkway Trolley Hop is sponsored by Council Members Welch, Blackwell, Butler, Fowler, James, Johnson and Yates. 


Walk With a Doc at Iroquois Park

Iroquois Park will hold their next “Walk With a Doc” program Saturday, July 20. The walk starts at the shelter near the Iroquois Amphitheater. It’s a free walking program for anyone who’s interested in taking steps to improve their health. Each walk is hosted by a KentuckyOne Health physician, and in addition to the numerous health benefits you’ll enjoy just by walking, you’ll also get a free blood pressure check and the chance to talk with the doc while you walk. Back to School Festival at Stuart Middle School

Stuart Middle School, located at 4601 Valley Station Road, will host its Back to School Festival Thursday, July 25th from 9:00am to 1:00pm. Call the Family Resource and Youth Services Center at 502-363-1424 for more information. Free basic school supplies and backpacks will be provided for all students K-12 along with games, prizes, hula hoop and jump rope contests, and other great community resources. A free lunch will be offered between 11:30am and 12:30pm for youth 18 years and younger as well as an opportunity to receive a free child and adult pass to attend the Louisville Bats baseball game on July 29th. LMPD's National Night Out August 6th

LMPD is gearing up for the 2013 National Night Out Against Crime on Thursday, August 6th. The "Night Out" is a country-wide crime prevention event that is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness strenghen neighborhood participation and police-community partnerships. It also sends a message to criminals letting them know that our neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.


3rd Division LMPD: 6-8pm at Home Depot (6840 Dixie Highway)

7th Division LMPD: 6-9pm at Target (7311 Jefferson Blvd.)


Young Entrepreneurs Academy

Applications are being accepted now for the 2013-2014 Young Entrepreneurs Academy presented by the NAWBO Louisville Foundation, GLI’s EnterpriseCorp, and the University of Louisville College of Business. If you know any middle or high school students who are interested in learning how to start and run their own real businesses, please invite them to apply. Program details and applications can be found at www.nawbolouisvillefoundation.org. The priority deadline is August 1 and applications will be accepted until September 3.
