Girl Scouts Habitat for Humanity Build

Congratulations to the Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana on their amazing efforts to build this Habitat for Humanity home in partnership with Semonin Realtors. I appreciate the Girl Scouts inviting me to the Ground Blessing on September 15th for the McDougal family and their new home!

Watterson Expressway Closings

The Watterson Expressway will be undergoing pavement repairs from I-65 to Dixie Highway. Westbound lanes will close Friday, September 21st at 10:00pm and reopen Monday, September 24th at 6:00am. Eastbound lanes will close Friday, September 28th at 10:00pm and reopen Monday, October 1st at 6:00am.

One Stop Drop Recycling Event

On Saturday, September 22nd from 10:00am to 2:00pm, you will have the opportunity to clean out your house and drop off items for recycling at Ashley Furniture HomeStore (7375 Jefferson Blvd. behind Jefferson Pavilion Mall). Items that may be dropped off include:
  • Cardboard
  • Clothing
  • Personal documents (shred on site – please no plastic bags)
  • Household building supplies
  • Household furniture
  • Household items
  • Children & baby items
  • Professional business attire and accessories for women (clothing should be clean and on hangers)
  • Household electronics ($5 recycling fee for CRT monitors, cash only)
  • TV’s (cable ready only)
  • Cell phones
  • Any chargable battery (car/boat/cordless tools/cell phones/etc.)

DeSales High School Teen Club Dance 2012

Teen Club
DeSales High School will host a “Teen Club Dance 2012, Celebrating Yesteryear” at the school on Saturday, September 22. Doors open at 7:00pm and the dance will be held from 8:00-11:00pm with live music from The Monarchs. This is a 21-and-over dance and will include special appearances by several original members of the band! Community Services Project
Community Services Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing fulfilling employment for persons with disabilities, will hold its Dinner and Auction on Tuesday, October 2nd 5:30-8:00pm at Holiday Inn, 1325 S. Hurstbourne Parkway. The guest speaker, University of Louisville Assistant Football Coach Larry Slade, will share strategies for making an impact during difficult times. $35 tickets include dinner and auction access, a $5 Kroger gift card, live entertainment, music, door prizes and more. 12th Annual Senior Day Out

The 12th Annual Senior Day Out will be at the Kentucky International Convention Center on Tuesday, October 9th from 8:00am to 1:30pm. The day of entertainment includes music, lunch, prizes, Bingo, health screenings and information from over 75 exhibitors. FREE LUNCH requires registration by September 28th.
