A coalition of advocates known as Local Options for Kentucky Liens (LOKL) is hosting a series of tax lien clinics for homeowners that are having problems paying their property taxes. The county puts all tax bills up for sale in mid July. Homeowners run the risk of being foreclosed on a tax bill when it is sold to a tax lien purchaser. By coming to this free clinic, homeowners will be able to talk to the county attorney about a payment plan which removes them from the sale, receive information about homestead and disability exemptions, as well as take advantage of other resources that are available.
Thursday, June 7th from 11:00 am-1:00 pm at Presbyterian Community Center, located at 701 South Hancock
Thursday, July 5th from 5:00-7:00 pm at Northwest Neighborhood Place, located at 4018 West Market St.
At the clinic you will be able to:
- Work with the County Attorney and arrange a plan for your taxes
- Consult an attorney about past taxes that have been sold
- Apply for a Homestead or Disability Exemption
- Connect with a Job Coach about employment
- Learn about other services that may be available to you
