Every day in June is special when you're alive, and Juneteenth reminds us that we survived.
I am honored to represent my ancestors' wildest dreams. Even when times are difficult, I know I am an active part of a legacy rooted in faith, survival, resilience, and the ability to thrive.
Every day, I work to save lives, improve lives, and help create change for the better.
Six years ago, we stood at what I named "Injustice Square," demanding justice for Breonna Taylor and far too many others. I have no regrets, because justice takes many forms, and the fight for it must continue.
I am proud to be of service to our beautiful city of Louisville but we still have work to do, y’all.
This Juneteenth, I ask you to be intentional. Be honest. Reject corruption and racist practices. Participate in OUR democracy by voting, and staying engaged.
The Louisville Metro Council Budget Committee will have a special meeting this Monday, June 22nd at 3pm at 601 W Jefferson to pass the annual city budget. State law requires all municipalities pass a fiscal year budget by the end of June of that fiscal year. Later this week, on Thursday, June 25th, the full Metro Council will meet and adopt the FY27 budget. After that, the Council will go on a meeting break until the week of July 20th.
The budget will unfortunately not adequately address Councilwoman Parrish-Wright's asks. Organizations will be left underfunded or completely un-funded by metro government. Services will be cut. Please keep paying attention and advocating for your needs.
Councilwoman Parrish-Wright is always busy-she attends meetings, speaks on panels, celebrates communities, and ultimately, listens. She's had a great couple of weeks continuing to serve.
CW Parrish-Wright attended the third annual Julius "Red" Edelen Scholarship Gala, presented by the Teamsters National Black Caucus.
Councilwoman Parrish-Wright attended the Moms Demand Action Wear Orange event at Alberta O. Jones Park to demand an end to gun violence.
Councilwoman Parrish-Wright attended the annual Law Library Day, hosted by the Jefferson County Law Library. This event highlights the resources available to those in Jefferson County, and the function of our legal system both here in Louisville, and across the state of Kentucky.
Please join us for our next Building Our Blocks event for the HALLMARK neighborhood! We will be hosting this event at New Horizon Baptist Church at 2202 Dixie Highway with catering by Franco's, and resources from the Office of Housing, the Louisville Urban League, and the Louisville Water Company! Join us from 11am-3pm!
