Election Day Voting

Primary Election dates: May 19, 2026
General Election dates: November 3, 2026

Who qualifies for an in-person excused absentee ballot:

  1. Voter is a resident of Kentucky who is a covered voter as defined in KRS 117A.010,who will be absent from the county of his or her residence on the day of an election and during the days of no-excuse in-person absentee voting.
  2. Voter, or spouse of voter, who has surgery scheduled that will require hospitalization on the day of an election and during the days of no-excuse in-person absentee voting.
  3. Voter who temporarily resides outside the state but is still eligible to vote in this state and will be absent from the county of his or her residence on the day of an election and during the days of no-excuse in-person absentee voting.
  4. Voter is a resident of Kentucky who is a uniformed-service voter as defined in KRS 117A.010 confined to a military base on election day and during the days of no-excuse in-person absentee voting.
  5. Voter who is in her last trimester of pregnancy.
  6. Voter who has not been declared mentally disabled by a court of competent jurisdiction and, due to age, disability, or illness, is not able to appear at the polls on election day and during the days of no-excuse in-person absentee voting.
  7. Voter who is a student who temporarily resides outside the county of his or her residence and will be absent from the county of his or her residence on the day of an election and during the days of no-excuse in-person absentee voting.
  8. Voter who is employed in an occupation that is scheduled to work during all days and all hours, which shall include commute time, the polls are open on election day and during the days of no-excuse in-person absentee voting.
  9. Voter who is an election officer tasked with election administration for the current election cycle.
  10. Voter who is a person prevented from voting in-person at the polls on election day and from casting a no-excuse in-person absentee ballot on all days no-excuse in-person absentee voting is conducted because he or she will be absent from the county of his or her residence during all days and hours no excuse in-person absentee voting is conducted.
  11. Voter who is a caregiver who is providing medical or healthcare assistance to a voter who is qualified to cast an in-person absentee ballot.

I-65 CENTRAL CORRIDOR CLOSURE THIS SUMMER

As many of you know, a portion of I-65 will close in Louisville this summer.

 

  • I-65 will close between the Watterson Expressway (I-264) and Downtown Louisville (Jefferson Street) June 1 – July 31, 2026.
  • I-65 is expected to reopen August 1 to two lanes of traffic in each direction.
  • The project and improvements to six additional bridges continue through the end of 2027.
  • The signed detour is I-264/Georgia Davis Powers Expressway to the west of Louisville.
  • The project website is I65CentralCorridor.com, and project updates are shared on KYTC D5 Facebook and X channels.

AT&T FIBER PLACEMENT WITHIN DISTRICT 5

A

AT&T has been issued permit # PW-REP-26-01062 to place fiber optic cable within District 5.

 

I have attached a site map showing the planned work location.

 

Work dates will range from 4/13/2026 to 5/29/2026 with cleanup to take no longer than one week upon construction completion.

 


SHAWNEE LIBRARY HAPPENINGS

We have a lot going on at the Shawnee Library that I am hoping you will share with anyone that you think may be interested.  I have attached a few fliers and will highlight some other programming below.

  • Summer Movie Hang Out – Thursday, 5/21 at 5p

The Summer Reading and Cultural Pass Kick off will be at Waterfront Park on Saturday, May 30th from 10a-1p!
