Somebunny Special Is Coming to Sun Valley Park
Grab your baskets and your cameras because we’re bringing the Easter Bunny to SUN VALLEY PARK! Join us on SUNDAY, March 22 from 2PM–4PM for an afternoon full of smiles, springtime fun, and good old-fashioned community connection. Bring the kids, snap your own photos with the Easter Bunny. It’s simple, it’s sweet, and it’s all about making memories together. And if this time or location doesn’t quite work for your crew, no stress at all! Sherry Bryant with OffRoad Photography KY LLC is generously volunteering her time and resources to serve our community. Not only will she be there capturing special moments, she’ll also be printing photos on site so families can take home a keepsake that very same day. That’s the kind of heart that makes events like this extra meaningful. Thank you, Sherry, for pouring back into the community in such a tangible way. Let’s make it an egg-stra special weekend.

Baseball season is back, and that’s always a pretty special time around here. I’m proud to help Valley Sports American Little League kick off their 2026 Spring Season.
On Friday, March 20 at 6:00 PM, the league will hold their longtime neighborhood parade through Columbine, Morning Glory, and Daffodil. If you live along the route, step out on your porch or front lawn and help cheer these kids on. The teams put a lot of time into their floats every year and yes… you might want to keep an eye out for the candy tosses.
Then the fun rolls right into Saturday, March 21, with a full day at the park filled with baseball, good food, and a lot of community spirit.
Youth sports programs like Valley Sports are such a big part of what makes Southwest Louisville special. Hope to see a lot of familiar faces out there supporting these young athletes and kicking off another great season.
South End Loan & Incentive Fund Update
We didn’t roll this out just to make an announcement we rolled it out to move the needle. And it is.
Since launching in September, we’ve had 91 inquiries from businesses looking at the South End and the Dixie Highway corridor. That tells me one thing: people are paying attention, and they see the opportunity here.
Here’s where the numbers stand right now:
• Dixie Highway Restaurant Incentive: $353,400 approved $646,600 still available
• METCO Loans: $535,000 approved $265,000 remaining
• South Point / Legacy Grants: $40,000 approved $160,000 remaining
That’s real investment already moving and real dollars still on the table.
If you’re not familiar with the programs, here’s the quick version:
METCO Loans help new businesses open their doors or allow existing businesses to improve and expand their properties.
Legacy (South Point) Grants provide $10,000 to businesses that have been operating five or more years and are ready to reinvest.
Restaurant Incentives offer up to $30 per square foot for new sit-down or fast-casual restaurants locating specifically along Dixie Highway.
This fund exists for two reasons: 1️⃣ Support the businesses that stuck with the South End. 2️⃣ Attract strong, quality investment that upgrades our commercial corridors.
We talk a lot about revitalizing Dixie. This is what that actually looks like incentives, capital, and momentum.
If you’re thinking about opening, expanding, or renovating, don’t sit on it. There is still funding available, but it won’t last forever.
Full details and applications are here: https://www.louisvillealliance.org/southend
We’re going to keep pushing until the South and Southwest get every bit of investment they deserve.
Have a question about zoning in your neighborhood? Wondering how developments get approved? Louisville Metro’s Office of Planning is hosting open Q&A sessions at library branches on select Tuesday afternoons. These sessions are free and open to the public – no RSVP required. Planning impacts how our neighborhoods grow, what the future of Louisville looks like, and where we live. The goal of these conversations is simple: to make the planning process clearer and easier to understand. It all kicks off March 3rd at the Shively-Newman Library.
Four snow events this season, repeated freezing and thawing, and winter road treatments have taken a toll on Louisville Metro streets. These harsh conditions weaken pavement and lead to potholes.
In 2025 alone, Louisville Metro's Department of Transportation has filled more than 48,860 potholes. Reporting them helps crews respond more quickly, keeping roads safer and smoother for everyone throughout the winter months.
You can report potholes by:

Louisville Metro's first Pop-Up Drop-Off event of the year is right around the corner, and we want to make sure you have the official information. Please share the graphic below with friends, neighbors, and community groups.
We're thrilled to announce a new addition for 2026: Goodwill Kentucky will be on-site collecting gently used textiles and household items. It you've still got the bag of donations sitting in your trunk, this is the perfect chance to finally give those items a second life.
These events are designed to be a one-stop-shop for responsible decluttering - recycling, donating, and proper disposal all in one place. And your participation truly makes a difference. Last year, Pop-Up Drop-Offs achieved a 53% diversion rate, keeping more than half of all collected material out of the landfill. That's momentum worth building on.
As we kick off a new year, we're encouraging residents to embrace a reduce and reuse mindset rather than a throw-away one. Reducing waste starts long before items reach the curb or a Pop-Up Drop-Off - by choosing durable products, avoiding unnecessary purchases, and being mindful consumers. Every item donated, recycled, or avoided in the first place helps reduce waste and supports a cleaner, more sustainable Louisville.
We can't wait to see you at a Pop-Up Drop-Off this year! Join us at Sun Valley Park and Ashby Lane Baptist Church on March 21, 2026 for the first one. And mark your calendars for the second one at UofL Shelby Campus on April 4!
