A main stretch of the Highlands will once again come alive without cars as CycLOUvia returns on Sunday, October 12, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Bardstown Road will be closed to traffic from Grinstead Drive to Douglass Boulevard, creating a safe and festive space for the community to walk, bike, run, roll, and stroll.
“CycLOUvia showcases the best of Louisville: neighbors coming together, families enjoying safe and active streets, and businesses welcoming new visitors,” said Mayor Craig Greenberg. “Events like this are helping us create a safer, stronger, and healthier city for everyone. I invite everyone to come out and enjoy Bardstown Road in a new way.”
CycLOUvia is Louisville’s open streets event, transforming some of the city’s busiest corridors into car-free spaces where residents and visitors can enjoy healthy activities, support local businesses, and connect with one another.
“CycLOUvia is more than a celebration of cycling — it’s a powerful and whimsical reminder that alternative transportation connects communities, improves public health, and makes our streets more vibrant and inclusive,” said Lou Lepping, event organizer and transportation planner with Louisville Metro’s Department of Transportation. “Louisville thrives when we slow down and move together."
