Highlands-Shelby Park Library Update!
I’m excited to share some District 8 news for book lovers, families, and neighbors who use the Highlands-Shelby Park Library.
Earlier this week, Mayor Craig Greenberg and the Louisville Free Public Library announced that the Mid-City Mall location will soon offer expanded hours and signed a one-year lease extension.
Beginning on Sunday, November 2, you can visit the library on Sundays from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. This allows residents another day of the week to access computers, check out books, share in storytime, and much more.
Another piece of exciting news, the library has secured a lease extension of one-year, which means this location is staying at Mid-City Mall at least through June of 2026. At this time, there is no additional information for after that date, it all depends on the sale of Mid-City Mall and the future owners.
This is a win for our community. I grew up making frequent trips to this library, and my own kids have loved the Teen Outpost. Expanding Sunday hours is another step toward making sure families, students, and neighbors have equitable access to this vital public space.
After November 2, library hours will be as follows:
- Monday – Thursday 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
- Friday & Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Sunday 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
I look forward to seeing you at the library in Mid-City Mall soon!
