The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control Board will hold a public hearing, via Video Teleconference, on an Enforceable Board Agreement with Louisville Gas and Electric Company (LG&E) and an Agreed Board Order with Environmental Demolition Group, LLC.
The Agreement with LG&E proposes to allocate 100 tons of annual NOx emissions reduction credit from the retirement of Mill Creek Unit 1 to be utilized by the Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District as a replacement to offset any potential increase in NOx emissions in connection with the removal of the federal reformulated gas program for the Louisville, Kentucky area, which includes Jefferson County and portions of Bullitt and Oldham Counties. If adopted by the Board, the District will submit the determination to the United States Environmental Protection Agency for inclusion in the Kentucky State Implementation Plan.
The Environmental Demolition Group, LLC is alleged to have violated District Regulation 5.04 (Adoption of Federal Emission Standard for Asbestos) and 40 CFR 61, Subpart M (National Emission Standard for Asbestos).
Oral comments will be accepted at the public hearing via Video Teleconference on July 16, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Oral comments will also be accepted in the Edison Room at that time at 701 W. Ormsby Ave. Instructions on attending the Video Teleconference will be located on the District website.

Mayor Greenberg announces three new grants to help areas most impacted by gun violence
LOUISVILLE, KY (July 12, 2025) – As part of his Safe Louisville crime plan, Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg and the Office of Violence Prevention (OVP) are launching a new initiative called Get Busy. The goal is to provide middle-school-aged youth who live in areas that are most affected by gun violence with new opportunities and activities after school and on weekends throughout the 2025-2026 school year.
“We know that preventing violence in Louisville requires a comprehensive strategy, and one of the vital components is providing safe activities for young people in neighborhoods with the most urgent needs,” said Mayor Greenberg. “Louisville is fortunate to have incredible non-profit partners doing work in this space, and this funding will provide opportunities to expand or develop programming to serve more young people in new and creative ways.”
OVP is offering three $116,000 grants to proposals from groups that address violence and promote youth development. Each proposal must involve a minimum of three community organizations. The programming must take place in the Russell, Park Hill/Algonquin, and Southside/Americana neighborhoods. The proposals must also have a personalized mentorship component and focus on attracting and serving as many middle-school-aged youth as possible.
One grant will go to each of the three neighborhoods.
Applications open on July 21, at 12 a.m. on the OVP website. There will also be an information session at the OVP office on July 21 from 1-2:30 p.m. If you cannot attend the meeting in-person, there will also be a virtual option. The application deadline is August 20 at 11:59 p.m.

Diane Hawkins, 502-780-1443, Diane.Hawkins2@louisvilleky.gov Kevin Trager, 502-751-0358, Kevin.Trager@louisvilleky.gov Measles exposure reported at Kroger/Little Clinic on Dixie Highway
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (July 16, 2025) – Earlier this week, Mayor Craig Greenberg and Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness (LMPHW) announced a confirmed case of measles in Louisville Metro.
The health department has learned that infected individual visited the Little Clinic located inside Kroger, 4915 Dixie Hwy, on Wednesday, July 9.
As of July 16, there remains only one confirmed case of measles in Louisville Metro.
Out of an abundance of caution, LMPHW and Kroger continue to engage in contact tracing.
Anyone who visited the Little Clinic/Kroger between 9:15 a.m. -12 p.m. on July 9 may have been exposed to measles.
“Immunization is the best way to protect yourself against measles. Individuals who have received two MMR vaccines have strong protection against measles infection,” said Dr. Kristina Bryant, associate medical director at the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness.
LMPHW recommends all potentially exposed individuals monitor themselves for symptoms of measles and take following steps based on their vaccination status:
• Two documented, MMR vaccines or known measles immunity: No additional vaccines are needed.
• One documented MMR vaccination: Talk to your healthcare provider about a second MMR vaccine.
• No prior MMR vaccines: Contact the health department at (502) 574-8207 and stay at home through July 30.
“Exposed people do not need to be tested for measles infection unless they develop symptoms,” Bryant said.
“Potentially exposed individuals who think they have been vaccinated but do not have immunization records can talk to their providers about a blood test to check for immunity to measles.”
Know the symptoms of measles: Measles is a highly contagious respiratory virus that spreads through the air. Measles symptoms usually begin 8 to 12 days after exposure and include high fever, cough, runny nose and red or watery eyes. The characteristic measles rash typically appears three to five days after symptoms begin, often starting on the face and then spreading down to the rest of the body.
If you develop any of these symptoms, please stay at home and contact your healthcare provider for further instructions.
Anyone who has symptoms of measles should notify healthcare provider before arrival so that precautions can be taken to prevent the spread of infection.
Protect yourself: Two doses of the MMR vaccine is 97% effective against measles, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The first dose of measles vaccine is routinely administered in combination with mumps and rubella vaccine (MMR) to children at age 12 months through 15 months, and a second dose at age 4 through 6.
Children 6 through 11 months of age that are traveling internationally are recommended to receive a dose of MMR ideally at least two weeks prior to travel. This dose does not count toward therecommended vaccine series and should be repeated to ensure child receives two total doses on or after the first birthday.
Older children and adults should be up to date on recommended MMR vaccinations. Booster doses of MMR vaccine are not needed for people who have received MMR vaccines according to the routinely recommended schedule.
To get the MMR vaccine, contact your primary care provider. The Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness also provides vaccines for children and adults at its Immunization Clinic. To schedule an appointment, call 502-574-5380.
For more information about measles visit the Kentucky Department for Public Health measles website or the CDC measles website. You can also call the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness, (502) 574-8207 from Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

- Sgt Sassy “Sgt. Sassy may have a tough name but this girl is a total sweetheart. At 5yrs old, she was surrendered alongside 16 other pets after her caregiver lost their home and had no choice but to live in their car with their beloved animals. Despite the hardship, Sgt. She’s a happy, social girl with excellent leash manners, a fun personality, and a big heart. She lived peacefully with both dogs and cats and would make a wonderful companion in a multi-pet household. Thanks to the BISSELL Pet Foundation, Sgt. Matilda- There have been successful adoption stories when description of “grumpy” pets are a little “too honest.” I tried that approach for Matilda with awesome results, Matilda was featured on WDRB, WAVE, 1.6K likes pls almost 400 shares… except..she still isn’t adopted! “'Tis the season to adopt an unhinged cat and spend the rest of your life watching your back.
Matilda has had chance after chance, but she refuses to chill. Her diabolical adorableness will lure you in and then SNAP she’s back on bite quarantine.
SMH If you’re a nude homebody, proceed with caution. She sees exposed skin as an open invitation.
Matilda’s charm is buried somewhere between her many personalities. There’s no telling if she’ll like you from one day to the next but take comfort.. it’s her, not you.
