Week Without Driving: Monday, September 29 – Sunday, October 5, 2025

People without a car or unable to drive should be able to get to where they need to go safely and effectively. But every day, Americans who can’t drive – approximately a third of the population – face significant barriers to mobility such as inadequate sidewalks, poor transit, lack of connectivity and dangerous roads. The needs of non-drivers are too-often disregarded in transportation infrastructure and policies. Our goal should be a transportation system designed to support all individuals, regardless of ability, age, or income, that will strengthen our communities and enhance our quality of life. To that end, the Disability Mobility Initiative, in partnership with America Walks, launched the Week Without Driving challenge so that those who have the option to drive can: 1) learn firsthand about the barriers and challenges that nondrivers face; and 2) work with nondrivers to create more accessible commnities for all. To learn more, sign up for the challenge, and/or become a partner organization, please visit: weekwithoutdriving.org

Pet of the Week!

Pet of the Week!

Our Pet of the Week/month is Babybel! She has been with us in/out of shelter/foster since October 2024.

Babybel is a professional tug toy destroyer (except her beloved Lambchop, that's her baby), and makes the funniest froggy groans you’ve ever heard. She’s been bouncing between shelter and foster since October! Someone give this snuggly, sunbathing queen her throne already.

Housetrained, full of charm, and just dramatic enough to yell at the mailman before begging him for pets.

6 years old, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines! Her adoption fee is covered by Friends of Metro Animal Services, Louisville, KY

Come meet Babybel TODAY, she’s weird, wonderful, and ready to go home.

The Dot Experience Update

Exciting progress continues at The Dot Experience, and we're thrilled to share the latest construction milestones with you!

From Frankfort Avenue, you can now see the full front façade wrapped in sleek black waterproofing—a sign of the next stage of weather protection and finishing. On the first floor, the classroom space is taking shape. Just above it, on the second floor, will be the museum’s main gallery, where the core exhibitions will be located.

Windows have been installed in the Main Gallery, and crews using elevated lifts recently installed glass panels. Concrete has been poured for the grand staircase. The staircase will welcome guests from the main floor and lead them up into the heart of the second-floor gallery. The framing of the second-floor gallery is now complete. The walls form a distinctive half-moon shape, designed to guide visitors as they move from the elevator and staircase through our upcoming immersive exhibits.

The Dot Experience opens October 2026.
