Beargrass Creek Gets a Boost from Community Cleanup Effort

Over the weekend, Louisville's District 8 and 9 joined forces with Olmstead Parks Conservancy, the Kentucky Waterways Alliance (KWA), MSD, Brightside, and over 50 dedicated volunteers to make a difference. Together, they rolled up their sleeves to clean up Beargrass Creek—a treasured natural landmark in the community.

The event was a testament to the power of teamwork and shared commitment to preserving local waterways. Volunteers gathered early with gloves, trash bags, and determination, removing debris and restoring areas along the creek’s banks. By the end of the cleanup, Beargrass Creek looked healthier and more vibrant, promising better biodiversity and safer conditions for residents and wildlife.

A heartfelt thank-you goes out to everyone who participated, and to the partnering organizations that made the event possible. It’s efforts like these that remind us of the importance of stewardship and community care for our environment. Beargrass Creek is a cleaner, brighter place today thanks to all of you!

Stay tuned for more opportunities to get involved in local initiatives that keep Louisville thriving and beautiful. Beargrass Creek—and your neighbors—thank you for your hard work and dedication!
