 Join us this Saturday, February 1, for a special event at Louisville’s own Roots 101 African American Museum! District 4 is celebrating Russell Day at Roots 101 from noon to 3:00 pm. The event will offer free admission, light food, and transportation.
If you need transportation, please be at the Beecher Terrace Community Center (980 West Liberty St.) by 11:50 am to board the TARC bus, which will depart promptly at noon. After the tour, the bus will return to the Community Center at 3:00 pm.

 Thursday, January 30; The Mayor Greenberg spoke to a full audience in the Bomhard Theater in Downtown Louisville, delivering his annual state of the city address, in which he announced the state of our city is strong and getting stronger.
“You can see it in our new crime strategy; in our new emergency family shelter; new housing being built, new parks and libraries, new early learning options we’ll create for our kids, and more jobs and more opportunities for Louisville families across the board,” said the Mayor. “The state of our city is strong – and getting stronger, safer and healthier for everyone in every neighborhood with each passing day.”

 The Louisville Free Public Library’s College & Career Fair just for teens (ages 14-19), returns to the Main Library (301 York St.) for the second year on Saturday, February 1, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Participants will have the opportunity to discover exciting career and college opportunities in STEM, humanities, and trades through the lens of The Dot Experience, where accessibility and inclusion take center stage.
Participants will also get to meet with college representatives, prospective employers, and business owners, as well as hear from keynote speaker filmmaker Kyle Rohrbach, a former Reading Rainbow producer.

 Beginning Friday, January 31, Louisville Metro Government will begin accepting applications for External Agency Fund (EAF) grants. If your nonprofit organization is committed to providing services that achieve meaningful outcomes for low-income Louisvillians, you are encouraged to apply.

 The new scholarship program offers students and community advocates the opportunity to earn scholarship dollars towards advancing their education about the mission of organ, eye, and tissue donation to their peers.

 Apply now for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Winter Crisis program. LIHEAP Winter Crisis provides households with a benefit depending on housing category, fuel type used for heating, and income level.
The benefit can be applied towards home heating cost for electric, natural gas, propane, coal, wood, or fuel oil. Households must meet eligibility requirements, including income eligibility of up to and including 150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines.

 The Louisville Water Tower is one of Louisville's eight national historic landmarks and a must-see for both locals and tourists. Fun fact: It's actually the oldest water tower in the U.S.!
The tower opens its doors to the public on the second Sunday of every month.
