Greetings from Josie Raymond, District 10 Councilwoman!
Judge Eric J. Haner swore in new Louisville Metro Council Members Thursday night. Left to right were Ginny Mulvey-Woolridge of D-24, Kevin Bratcher of D-22, Stuart Benson of D-20, Marilyn Parker of D-18 (hidden), Scott Reed of D-16, Crystal Bast of D-14, Jonathan Joseph of D-12, Josie Raymond of D-10, J.P. Lyninger of D-6, Ken Herndon of D-4, Barbara Shanklin of D-2, and Ben Reno-Weber of D-8.
Hello, District 10! I was thrilled to be sworn in Thursday night as our next councilperson. If I had to name the theme of the first week, it has been: SALT OUR ROADS! We hear you and are working closely with Public Works to get everyone's street safe as quickly as possible...just as we expect several more inches of snow today.
I want to thank outgoing councilman Pat Mulvihill, who spent the last nine years representing our neighborhoods on Metro Council. From his legislation prohibiting illegal firearm discharge (anybody else kept up on New Year's Eve by this?) to installing the walking path over Beargrass Creek and the pickleball courts in George Rogers Clark Park, he definitely left the district better than he found it.
I am coming to this office from the KY General Assembly, where I have served as a state representative for the last six years working on issues including education, healthcare access, and the state budget. I have had the privilege of representing many District 10 residents already, and look forward to meeting thousands more.
Lastly, we are all lucky that Councilmember's Mulvihill's great team has agreed to stay on in the District 10 office. Sara Feltner puts together these newsletters that so many neighbors appreciate, and Geoff Wohl serves as the first point of contact when you reach out by phone and email. It has been wonderful to hear how many of our neighbors' problems he has personally resolved over the last nine years! Because these two know their way around, we've had a smooth transition. If we can be of service, please reach out anytime.

Metro Council elects new leadership
The Louisville Metro Council’s Majority Caucus and Metro Council elected their new leadership for 2025 during the organizational meeting, selecting experienced leaders to guide the council’s efforts in the coming year.
Councilwoman Tammy Hawkins was elected to serve as the Democratic Caucus Chair and Metro Council President Pro Tem. A member of the Metro Council since 2022, Chair Hawkins represents Council District 1, which includes neighborhoods in Louisville’s West End, including Parkland, Chickasaw, Lake Dreamland, Park DuValle, Parkland, Riverside Gardens, Russell and St. Denis. She has been a strong advocate for fostering stronger communication between local government and the communities she represents. |
