The Office of Arts + Creative Industries is working with Columbus-based consulting firm, Designing Local, in producing Metro’s first Comprehensive Cultural Plan. They will be hosting two open house events on December 12th, 2024 to gather input from the community. This event will serve as a forum for the community to share concerns about challenges facing Louisville’s arts and culture sector, as well as offer ideas for future goals. Democratic Caucus Will Meet on Thursday, December 12
The Democratic Caucus of the Louisville Metro Council will meet on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Third Floor Conference Room, Historic City Hall, 601 West Jefferson Street.
The meeting is open to the public. The public may enter City Hall using the Sixth Street entrance. Anyone needing assistance may enter City Hall from the Jefferson Street entrance.
Under KRS 61.826, some members will be video conferencing using WebEx.
Mayor Greenberg Provides Weekly Update
Mayor Greenberg highlighted a new announcement about the work being done to reimagine downtown Louisville through the Downtown Louisville Building Conversion Program. He also announced Delta Dental of Kentucky’s $40,000 gift to various warming centers for unhoused Individuals in partnership with Metro Government’s Office of Resilience and Community Services (RCS). Minority Caucus to Meet Thursday, December 12, 2024
The Minority Caucus of the Louisville Metro Council will hold its final regular meeting for calendar year 2024 at 4 p.m. on Thursday, December 12th from the 2nd floor Caucus Room within City Hall (601 W. Jefferson Street).
During the meeting members of the Minority Caucus will review upcoming items on the evening’s Metro Council agenda and discuss items that will be heard in the next calendar year.
The Minority Caucus holds its regular meetings on Thursdays in the 2nd floor caucus room of City Hall. The next scheduled meeting of the Minority Caucus is Monday, January 6, 2025 at 3 pm.

Louisville Metro Rental Property Owners Can Now Access the Lead-Safe Housing Registry
Registry aims to prevent lead poisoning and create more healthy and safe housing
Long-term rental property owners, who own homes built before 1940, can now join the Lead-Safe Housing Registry, managed by the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness. The registry, which took effect Dec. 1, is being rolled out in phases and property owners will have a year to comply with its guidelines. To learn more, click here.

Land Development Code Reform
The Land Development Code (LDC) is a set of rules and laws that defines how land can be used, how a development such as a new shopping mall or apartment must be designed, and the procedures for approval. The LDC Reform is an equity focused approach to revise the LDC consistently with Plan 2040 to allow for increased housing choices and opportunities in new and existing neighborhoods, to create procedures and regulations that are easier to use, and increase the quality of life by reducing the concentration of environmental hazards near housing.
Work to reform the LDC began in the summer of 2020. Initial recommendations, including accessory dwelling units, notification procedures, and urban agriculture were all adopted within the first year. The work continues and we encourage you to participate!

LFPL’s Polar Express Pajama Party returns to the Southwest Regional Library
Experience some holiday magic as the annual Polar Express Pajama Party pulls in to the station at the Southwest Regional Library (9725 Dixie Highway) on Friday, December 13, 6 – 8 p.m. Kids can come dressed in their pajamas and enjoy free games, crafts, and activities for the whole family.
There will be a reading of The Polar Express, followed by a screening of the movie. Children can also get their picture taken with Mrs. Claus, Elsa from Frozen, and the Polar Express conductor; enjoy a cookie and hot chocolate pit stop; and get a free book of their very own.
