November 19, 2024
Washington, DC – Louisville Metro Councilman Kevin Kramer (District 11) has been elected as Second Vice-President of the National League of Cities (NLC) during the group's annual City Summit held in Tampa, Florida. This event brings together community leaders from over 19,000 cities, towns, and villages to discuss their legislative priorities as well as communicate with leaders throughout the country on innovative practices and advocating on behalf of the group’s members.
Councilman Kramer, who currently chairs the 2024 Information Technology Committee and Communications Federal Advocacy Committee, has been an active member of the NLC since 2003 and joined the Board of Directors from 2011-2015 and again in 2023. In his new role, he will collaborate with newly elected NLC President Sharon Weston Broome, Mayor-President of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Mayor Steve Patterson of Athens, Ohio, who was elected as NLC’s First Vice President. Together, they will work with the fifty-nine members of the NLC’s Board of Directors.
“I am deeply honored to be elected as the Second Vice-President of the National League of Cities. This position offers an incredible opportunity to advocate for the needs and aspirations of our communities. I look forward to working with my colleagues across the nation to drive positive change and elevate the voices of Louisville and other cities.” – Councilman Kevin Kramer
Councilman Kramer will serve a one-year term as NLC’s Second Vice-President and is expected to advance to the role of Vice President in 2026 and will lead the organization as its President in 2027.
This marks the first time a representative from Louisville Metro has served on the National League of Cities executive leadership team, ensuring that the needs and views of Louisville's residents are represented as policies and legislative agendas are developed to support cities, towns, and villages nationwide.
Councilman Kramer serves as Chairman of the Minority Caucus for the Louisville Metro Council. He represents the 11th District, which includes Jeffersontown, Eastwood, Hurstbourne Acres, and Forest Hill, extending from the Louisville-Shelby County line westward to Six Mile Lane near Breckenridge Lane in Hikes Point. Additionally, he is the Vice-Chair of the Metro Council’s Budget Committee and has been a member of the Metro Council since 2003.
