VOTE!, Happy Halloween, and a Metro Council Update
October 31st, 2024
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
The most important message of this newsletter is PLEASE VOTE EARLY!!!! The Secretary of State is predicting record voter turnout. You can go to any voting location today, tomorrow or Saturday to vote early. Based on your address they print your applicable ballot and you vote. On Tuesday, you can ONLY vote at your designated location which you can lookup at www.govote.ky.gov. There is a risk that you will be standing in a long line on Tuesday. Either way, please make a plan to vote and exercise your civic right and duty to elect those who will represent you both locally and nationally.
The early October Council meeting had only a few non-controversial items on the agenda mostly about funding small yet expected parts of the budget or accepting grants to fund projects.
This past week’s meeting included the unanimous passage of my EV bill which will ensure that any new electric vehicle charging stations built by the city will require any private driver to pay for their energy use. Again, I have no objection to EVs or charging stations. I do object to taxpayers paying for private EV charging. I appreciate my colleague’s support on this ordinance.
