Today, September 30th, is the last day to sign contracts for participants who have signed up for Solarize Louisville 2024. Join nearly 200 Solarize participants to date in installing solar to reduce energy costs and help Louisville achieve its clean energy goals! Email sustainability@louisvilleky.gov with questions.

To mitigate urban heat island, Louisville Metro Government offers an incentive of $1 per square foot through the Cool Roof Incentive Program to any residential or non-residential property that has installed a certified Cool Roof within the last 3 years.
A majority of the funding is allocated to high heat districts, which include Council Districts 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 12, 14, and 15, but funding is currently available in all Council District across Louisville/Jefferson County. Louisville Metro encourages property owners to apply!

Metro Technology Services (MTS) has reduced waste through a new recycling program.
Louisville Metro Technology Services (MTS) has made strides in reducing waste and recycling e-waste. Earlier this year, Dell introduced MTS to one of their e-recycling partners, ER2. The ER2 Dashboard has allowed MTS to track and review the positive impacts of their recycling efforts including the following statistics:
- E-waste recycled: 17,621 pounds
- Water saved: 2,803 gallons
- Greenhouse gasses reduced: 24,561 pounds
- Toxic metals diverted: 506 pounds
- Total metals diverted: 5,951 pounds

Brownfields for Bankers and Developers Info Session
Louisville Metro Government's Office of Planning is hosting a Brownfields for Bankers and Developers Info Session event on Thursday, September 5th from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM at the UofL Urban Design Studio on 427 W Muhammad Ali Blvd Suite 200, Louisville, KY 40202. This session will provide information to small developers, community development financial institutions, and lenders on programming available for brownfield redevelopment.

Louisville Parks will host community tree planting and park maintenance volunteer opportunities this fall.
Are you interested in volunteering with youth sports, community tree plantings, or cleaning up litter? All of these opportunities and more are available through the Louisville Parks & Recreation volunteer program! Here are two upcoming opportunities to give back to parks:
- Metro Arts Center is hosting a Fall Camp Week starting Monday, September 30 through Friday, October 4. Volunteers are needed to help lead craft projects for students and can sign up for one day or the entire week.
- Louisville Parks and Recreation is partnering with TreesLouisville to plant 150 trees in the Buechel neighborhood on Saturday, November 9 from 11:45 AM to 3:00 PM. No experience is necessary, and training and tools will be provided.

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has selected 11 Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Grantmakers (i.e., Grantmakers) that will receive $600 million to serve as pass-through entities nationwide through the Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Grantmaking Program (EJ TCGM) cooperative agreements.
The Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Grantmakers (Grantmakers) will work in collaboration with EPA’s Office of Environmental Justice and External Civil Rightsto issue subgrants to community-based nonprofit organizations and other eligible organizations representing disadvantaged communities. - The Renewable Energy Alliance of Louisville (REAL) will host the next virtual monthly meeting on Monday, October 7 at 7:00 PM.

Louisville Tree Week, hosted October 12 to October 20, celebrates the roles trees play in our lives through creative, informative, and fun-filled activities and events for people of all ages hosted by local organizations, businesses, and individuals.
- The Kentucky Composting Conference will held on Thursday, October 17 and Friday, October 18 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM both days at the UofL Bingham Humanities Building on 2216 S 1st St. This two-day conference will bring together experts in the field of composting, along with researchers and policy makers, to discuss the state of composting in Kentucky, and best practices in sustainability.
- The Louisville Sustainability Council (LSC) will host a community Energy Efficiency Fair at Americana Community Center on 4801 Southside Drive on Thursday, October 17 from 12:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Attendees will learn about no-cost weatherization services, how to lower energy bills, sustainable and efficient energy, and Inflation Reduction Act incentives.
- The West Jefferson County Community Task Force (WJCCTF) Environmental Justice Conference will be held Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
- Brightside is hosting a Sweep & Sip Community Cleanup at West Sixth Brewery in NuLu on Saturday, October 19. Volunteers will gather at 11:00 AM to pick up litter in the surrounding area and celebrate at the brewery, located on 817 E Market St, after.
- The last CycLOUvia event of the year will be held on Sunday, October 20 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Bardstown Road. CycLOUvia temporarily closes streets for vehicular traffic to allow residents to walk, bike, and skate as well as enjoy Louisville's great local businesses!
- The Kentucky Governor's Conference on Energy and the Environment will be hosted at the Embassy Suites in Lexington, Kentucky from Monday, October 21 to Tuesday, October 22.
