14 Flock Cameras Coming to District 14

To help address rising crime and ensure public safety, Councilwoman Cindi Fowler (D-14) and Councilman Dr. Rick Blackwell (D-12) have appropriated funds to install Flock Safety cameras throughout their districts. This new initiative aims to deter criminal activity, assist law enforcement in investigations, and improve the overall sense of security in the community.
Flock cameras are specialized license plate-reading cameras that capture vehicle details, such as license plates, make, model, and color. These cameras are equipped with advanced software that alerts law enforcement to stolen vehicles or wanted individuals and allows for quick identification in criminal investigations. The footage captured is accessible only by law enforcement personnel for investigative purposes.
The appropriation of $177,100 ($88,550 from each council district) was approved by Metro Council . The funding will be used to purchase twenty-eight new Flock cameras, fourteen to be installed in each district.
Little Libraries are Popping Up in D14

Councilwoman Cindi Fowler has announced a new reading initiative for District 14 residents.
Little Libraries, also known as “community book exchanges”, are small boxes or structures where people can freely take or leave books. These mini libraries are a popular way to share and recycle books within the community.
The District 14 office has purchased thirty Little Library kits, which will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, depending on the requested location. The kits include everything needed for assembly and installation, with instructions provided. The libraries must be installed on private property but made available for public use, such as in a front yard.
If you’re interested in receiving a free kit, please contact the District 14 office with the address where you’d like to install it. The goal is to have these libraries throughout District 14. If approved, we will deliver the kit to you. This opportunity is available to any District 14 resident.
To request a free Little Library kit, please contact Councilwoman Fowler’s office at 574-1114, or email Amy.Stewart@louisvilleky.gov.

How Can You Help with Illegal Dumping
Illegally dumped trash is more than just an eyesore! It is expensive to clean up, it negatively impacts our quality of life and economic development, and the plastic debris may end up in our waterways and oceans. Individuals caught dumping illegally may have their vehicle impounded and face fines and fees totaling about $1,000. We have recently posted images on social media asking for help identifying illegal dumpers caught on camera and reporting when a vehicle was impounded. WDRB also helped spread the word about the negative impacts of illegal dumping. View their story here. Residents are encouraged to fill out this online form if they witness illegal dumping. The form can also be used to share home security camera footage or images of illegal dumping occurring with our Solid Waste Enforcement Department. Go to Louisvilleky.gov/IllegalDumping to learn more about how you can help prevent illegal dumping. Did you know..? Many waste materials can be dropped off legally and for FREE.
