 It's an exciting time in Louisville! WorldFest begins on Friday, August 30, and continues through Monday, September 2. WorldFest is also the exciting kickoff to Welcoming Month 2024, which will be celebrated with events throughout the month of September. We have a full list in this newsletter. We hope you join in on the fun!

+ Friday Schedule of Events
 WorldFest entertainment starts early on Friday! The first acts hit stages at 10:30 a.m., and continue through 11 p.m. That's just day one. You can find a full list of events during the weekend online, and we'll post updates during the weekend on the Office for Immigrant Affairs Instagram and Facebook accounts.

 WorldFest is the kickoff of Welcoming Month! If you go to the OIA Welcoming Month page, you will see links to events throughout the month.
This is not just a Louisville celebration - it's global! Our own director, Amos Izerimana says, "The Welcoming Standard is a great framework to start building a welcoming agenda for a city of any size. It will help the city government structure its priorities but also the wider community to envision what the city’s welcoming environment could look like."

 Join us for The Big Table, one of the world’s largest potluck events, where everyone is welcome to take a seat at the table. This is more than just a meal—it’s an opportunity to build a stronger, more connected Louisville.
When: Sunday, September 15 from 5-7 p.m.
Where: Iroquois Park
Bring your favorite dish and your story and experience the magic that happens when we share good food with new people.
+ Invitation to the International Job Fair
 The Office for Immigrant Affairs is pleased to invite you to the International Job Fair, an event dedicated to connecting diverse talent with forward-thinking employers.
When: Saturday, September 21 from 11-2 p.m.
Where: Goodwill Opportunity Center 6201 Preston Hwy A, Louisville, KY 40219
This is a valuable opportunity for employers to showcase career opportunities to a global audience and engage with candidates who bring unique perspectives and skills. Participation is free, with tables and chairs provided.
Other Events in early September
 Building Bridges - Silk Road is a project seeking to connect immigrant residents to the broader community with the goal of highlighting cultural diversity of our immigrant residents and promoting cross-cultural relationships.
This will be a series of events, and the first is coming up soon.
When: Thursday, September 5 from 12 p.m. - 2 p.m.
Where: Americana Community Center, 4801 Southside Dr.
Cost: $10 including lunch and presentation
 Nritya Sandhya: An Evening of Dance is a community event to share diverse cultures and to support 'The Crusade for Children' for those with special need. There will be mesmerizing Indian Classical Dance Performances and energetic Bollywood and Folk Dance performances as well.
When: Sunday, September 8 from 3-5 p.m.
Where: Ursuline Arts Center, 3113 Lexington Road
Cost: $10
