The Iroquois Amphitheater Box Office will be open for in-person ticket purchases on Monday- Wednesday from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., Thursday from 1 -6 p.m., and Friday from 11 a.m.- 4 p.m.

Community Access Zoo Membership

A special membership offer for families enrolled in the SNAP Program. Get a discounted Family level (option A or B) membership through this program for $50. ONLY Family Level memberships are available for this offer. This discount requires verification of SNAP or WIC eligibility and cannot be completed online or over the phone. Membership must be purchased in person at the Zoo with a valid SNAP or WIC card and matching photo ID at the time of purchase. Discount cannot be applied retroactively and may not be combined with any other offers and is not valid for any other levels. Not valid with gift memberships or (e)gift cards. The person purchasing the membership must match the SNAP card and photo ID. The primary named adult on the membership must match the name on the SNAP card and photo ID.  Some SNAP or WIC benefits may be distributed to the child within a household in which case we will honor the discount but require the parent or guardian be the named adult.  EBT cards are not an accepted form of payment for purchases at the Louisville Zoo.

Returning to the Louisville Zoo After 15 Years, Louisville Orchestra at the Zoo, July 6, 2024 @ 8:30 pm - 10:00 pm

The Louisville Zoo and Louisville Orchestra are thrilled to announce the highly anticipated return of ROARchestra on Saturday, July 6 at the Louisville Zoo. Following a 15-year hiatus, this beloved family-friendly event combines the excitement of a visit to the Zoo with the soul-stirring sounds of the Louisville Orchestra, creating an unforgettable experience.

Tickets

Adults — $30, Children 3-11 — $15, Children 2 and under — Free, Parking is included with admission.

Concessions, including adult libations, will be available for purchase. This event is expected to sell out; the Zoo and the Orchestra encourage guests to get their tickets early at louisvillezoo.org/roar.

JCPS Summer Feeding Program for Youth

Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) is giving families a second option for feeding children this summer. The district will have three bulk meal distribution sites where parents or guardians can pick up a box with five free breakfasts and lunches for their kids. The new option is in addition to the walk-in or walk-up program JCPS School and Community Nutrition Services (SCNS) has offered the past couple of summers. Both programs are open to all children 18 years old or younger until July 26th.  For walk-up locations, click here.

Free, in-person breakfasts and lunches will be available each weekday at 41 mobile stops and 12 community partner locations. Families who are not able to bring their child each day can pick up the 10 prepackaged meals for each child at one of the three bulk distribution sites on Tuesdays:

1. Beckley Park at the Egg Lawn  (1411 Beckley Creek Pkwy, Louisville, KY 40245), two parking areas down from the dog park and near the sprinkler park

2. Evangel World Prayer Center (6900 Billtown Rd, Louisville, KY 40299), close to the  Gene Snyder Freeway

3. PRP Fire Training Center (8201 Greenwood Rd, Louisville, KY 40258), close to Cane Run Road.

The three drive through bulk distribution sites will be open from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. every Tuesday beginning June 4th.

·   Parents will be able to pick up one meal box per child. Each box contains five breakfasts and five lunches.

·   There is a limit of two boxes if children are not present with a parent.

·   Parents requesting food for more than two children will be required to have all children present.

·   Meal boxes will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.

We need your help reporting potholes, use one of the methods below; Use an online form by clicking here. Use Twitter by sending the location of the hole to @LouMetro311 and include the hashtag #502pothole. Call Metro311 or 574-5000 to report potholes or any other issues. Call our office at 574-1114, and we'll turn it in on your behalf. To report a pothole on an interstate in Jefferson County, go to the “contact us” dropdown menu and select “report a hazard” on KYTC’s website http://transportation.ky.gov or click here.

How Can You Help with Illegal Dumping

Illegally dumped trash is more than just an eyesore! It is expensive to clean up, it negatively impacts our quality of life and economic development, and the plastic debris may end up in our waterways and oceans. Individuals caught dumping illegally may have their vehicle impounded and face fines and fees totaling about $1,000.  We have recently posted images on social media asking for help identifying illegal dumpers caught on camera and reporting when a vehicle was impounded. WDRB also helped spread the word about the negative impacts of illegal dumping. View their story here.  Residents are encouraged to fill out this online form if they witness illegal dumping. The form can also be used to share home security camera footage or images of illegal dumping occurring with our Solid Waste Enforcement Department. Go to Louisvilleky.gov/IllegalDumping to learn more about how you can help prevent illegal dumping.  Did you know..? Many waste materials can be dropped off legally and for FREE. Up to three large household items, up to 4 passenger tires, and up to 3 electronics items can be dropped off for free at the at the Waste Reduction Center, located at 636 Meriwether Avenue. A pickup truckload of yard waste or construction debris can be disposed for only $60.00. Residents can also utilize the free Pop-Up Drop-Off events that occur monthly, on a Saturday 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., March - November, in various parts of Jefferson County. Southwest Community Ministries - Items Needed

Southwest Community Ministries is currently overwhelmed with families who have never needed assistance before but are running out of household and hygiene products! They are asking for help from members of the community, youth groups, or anyone willing to donate. If you would prefer to give food donations, items such as ravioli, ramen, fruit cups, canned meats, soups, and peanut butter crackers are always good options. Things like Ensure and pull top lids are good for seniors as well! Needed Household Items: Toilet Paper Deodorant Soups Ravioli Ramen Noodles Items can be dropped off at the Ministry (8504 Terry Rd.) Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. For more information please call (502) 935-0310. Donations can also be made by visiting SouthwestCommunityMinistries.org/donate.

Meriweather Waste Reduction Center

At the Waste Reduction Center, Louisville/Jefferson County residents can dispose of tires, household bulky waste such as metals, appliances, electronics, tree limbs and stumps up to three feet in diameter, unbagged yard waste, construction debris, and furniture.

Hours of Operation

Tuesday - Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Appointments available Tuesday - Friday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Up to three household bulky items per day may be dropped off at no charge. Bulky loads or drop-offs exceeding three items will be charged according  - CASH ONLY.  

Examples of single items

• Up to 4 passenger tires*
• One appliance
• One large household item such as mattress, box spring, sofa or chair

*No more than 4 tires will be accepted for free drop-off at one time regardless of the number of other items
