Annual Budget: What do you think?

On Thursday, April 25th, 2024, the mayor released his suggested executive budget for the city. Now, Metro Council will hear from several city departments on their budgetary needs and negotiate with the mayor's office on where funds will be allocated.

Below, we've attached an image of a page from the mayor's budget. It is a pie-chart showing where the mayor proposes to spend the money for this fiscal year.

You may view the full recommended budget here: https://louisvilleky.gov/government/management-budget/fy25-budget

50.5% of the annual budget will be allocated to public safety, while 18% will be allocated to Central Services and 12.6% will be allotted to Community Building.

We want to know what you think! You may use the form at this link to let the D3 office know where you would like to see the money be spent, or you may email us with your own pie chart and how you think money should be divided. The official budget hearings will begin the week of May 6th. D3 asks you to join us when you can for the budget hearings, starting May 6th at 4pm at 601 W Jefferson St. The remainder of the hearings will take place most weekday afternoons from May 13th to June 17th.The vote to adopt the final budget will be Thursday, June 20th.
