Councilman Update

January 3rd, 2024

HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope that everyone had a blessed Christmas season and enjoyed some time with friends and family for the New Year. Metro Council will meet this upcoming Thursday to form the Council and elect our leadership. Committee and full Council meetings will resume at the end of January.

I wanted to take the time to highlight a few of the major things that were accomplished in 2023 from prior newsletters. They include:

  • Mayor Greenberg was inaugurated in January as the new Mayor of Louisville
  • I was elected for the 3rd time as the Republican Caucus Chair
  • After a very long and heated debate, we voted on a plan for the concrete plant that boarders Lake Forest
  • I advocated for and the state funded to reopen our juvenile detention facility
  • Through neighborhood development funds, I helped fund more Flock cameras to help detect stolen cars in D-19
  • Through local capital infrastructure funds, I funded a new crosswalk connecting Eastern HS and Hite Elementary to the Middletown Library crossing Old Shelbyville Road
  • Through local capital infrastructure funds, I funded a new kayak launching and fishing dock at Long Run Park
  • I sponsored and passed legislation that improves communication with local suburban cities related to new zoning cases
  • The city received the report from the DOJ related to LMPD
  • The city suffered a horrific mass shooting at the Old National Bank
