Saturday, November 11th Downtown Louisville, Jefferson Street between 7th and 3rd Streets
The Kentucky Veterans Parade and Celebration returns to downtown Louisville at 12 p.m. this Saturday for the first time since 2019. This is the 13th year for the parade.
Operation Rendezvous will be the largest undertaking in Kentucky Veterans Parade history consisting of three main components: a convoy, a traditional parade, and a static display.
The convoys will roll beginning at 9 a.m. With four convoys, Middletown Convoy, UAW Fern Valley Convoy, Dixie Manor Convoy, and KILROY Southern Indiana Convoy, there will be groups coming from all around Kentuckiana to converge in downtown Louisville.
|
Once downtown, the traditional parade kicks off at 12 p.m. marching east on Jefferson Street from 7th to 4th streets, dispersing after the Pass & Review Stage! Attendees are encouraged to stand along the route waving and cheering on our Veterans and their families.
Featuring dozens of new and returning groups, the parade will be the largest Veterans Day celebration in Kentucky! Children will enjoy seeing all the restored military vehicles pass by as well as many JROTC and other organizations march by in uniform.
Our 2023 Grand Marshal is Captain Marj Graves, a retired Army Nurse who served In Country during the Vietnam War.
To conclude the parade, a Massing of the Colors, a Blessing of the Flags Ceremony, a 21-Gun Salute and the singing of “God Bless America” will take place.
|
Following this, a static display will continue until 3 p.m. on Jefferson Street between 3rd and 4th streets and on 3rd Street between Jefferson and Market streets. Live entertainment, including the 202nd U.S. Army Band, the Louisville Thoroughbred Chorus and others will perform on the stage. The display is a great opportunity to meet our country’s heroes face to face and thank them for their service and to check out new and old military vehicles and equipment. There will also be plenty of great information for Veterans and their families.
Free parking will be available at all metered parking spots in downtown Louisville all day long thanks to Parking Authority of River City!
Following your visit to the Kentucky Veterans Day Parade and Celebration, head over to Bearno’s Pizza at 2nd and Main to enjoy some great food, or any of their other nine area locations, where they’ve been serving Louisville-style pizza since 1977.
