If we told you up front that one of our RCS employees has a pet tarantula, rides a Harley, and once got stuck in Singapore, would you have guessed we were talking about Chelsea Watson? Well, read on, because there's a lot to unpack here.
Chelsea’s journey to RCS had a few interesting twists and turns but it began at Berea College, where she was a Bonner Scholar, which required her to work several different community service positions, including mentoring middle schoolers, managing a nonprofit store, and dabbling in the lucrative and extremely glamorous field of communications.
When Chelsea began her career in Metro government, she found herself wearing the uniform of the Department of Corrections, where she worked as a corrections officer, managing the department’s payroll and supervising the 574-LMPD call line. While she was there, Chelsea somehow found time to earn a Master's degree in organizational leadership.
“Even then, I still craved assisting the community as my full time job and not just during parts of the day,” says Chelsea. “So, I applied for the Administrative Coordinator position which managed External Agency Funds and I have been here ever since!”
As dedicated as Chelsea is to her work at RCS, there is probably A LOT you don’t know about her!
Chelsea is well-traveled, having been to exotic locales like the Bahamas, Thailand, and Singapore (a destination that was somewhat of an accident, it turns out). She also enjoys many hobbies, including collecting crystals, sewing, hiking, and playing Fortnite with friends all over the world.
Chelsea has a Noah-like multitude of unusual pets, including two Dachshunds, three tarantulas, a corn snake, and a scorpion.
And did you know Chelsea’s ride is a 2016 Harley-Davidson Softail Slim? Vroom vroom!
