Happy Fall!

Our annual Frankfort Avenue cleanup event, held in conjunction with Operation Brightside, will be held this Saturday, October 21st at 9:30 a.m.  We will meet at the public parking lot at the corner of Frankfort Avenue and Keats Avenue.  Heine Brothers will provide the coffee and the D9 office will provide the gloves, tools, grabbers and bags.  Please brings your friends and family, come for coffee, community and clean streets, and stay as long as you are able.  We always have fun, and it is a great way to kick off the fall season.

As I’m sure you have noticed, the Frankfort Avenue resurfacing project has been completed by KYTC and the restriping of the road will be completed imminently.  I want to thank KYTC and it’s contractor for completing the work in an efficient and professional manner.  These road projects, particularly projects on well-traveled commercial corridors in the middle of a residential neighborhood, are complicated and take significant amounts of patience and planning.  By completing the work in the evening and overnight, KYTC was able to expedite the project and mitigate some of the inconvenience for businesses and neighbors.  At the same time, I also want to thank the neighbors who live within earshot of Frankfort Avenue.  You all shouldered the majority of the disruption and displayed patience and grace through some noisy and invariably sleepless nights.

I expect to do a final walk-through of the project in the next couple of weeks.  Please let our office know if you have questions or concerns you would like addressed by KYTC.

The Clifton & Crescent Hill Area Plan

The Clifton & Crescent Hill Area Plan is ready to begin the adoption process! The plan has been updated to reflect all comments that were received during the public comment period and can be viewed on the website at https://louisvilleky.gov/government/advanced-planning/clifton-crescent-hill-area-plan.  The adoption process generally takes 8-10 weeks based on the available dates for public hearings and meetings, and will begin with the Planning Committee of the Planning Commission next Monday, October 23rd, at 1:00p.m. This meeting will be virtual, and anyone is welcome to join via the link on the above website. The next meeting, which will be the full Planning Commission, will be scheduled after the Planning Committee meeting. All future meeting dates and information will be posted to the website.

We always welcome support from the neighborhoods during the adoption process! Planning Committee and Planning Commission are the best opportunity to voice your support in person, as public comment is generally not heard at Metro Council meetings. In addition, letters of support can be an effective way to express neighborhood approval to the Planning Commission and Metro Council.

Hubbards Lane Project

Gas relocation work is continuing and LG&E is anticipating completing work on the west side of Hubbards Lane at the Verizon store near US 60, the week after Thanksgiving.

Metro is hoping to receive approval for additional funds and approval next month in order to allow the consultant to finalize design on the north side of the CSX railroad, for some needed drainage improvements.

Once the design work has been reviewed and approved by CSX, Metro can finalize the agreement for construction in CSX’s R/W and obtain the needed easements required for the work and maintenance.

Fall Leaf Drop Off Coming Soon

Fall Leaves

Mowing over leaves to mulch them back into your lawn is a great option for reducing waste. Mulching not only returns vital nutrients to the soil, but experts say that it can help your grass grow even better the following year!

Never blow leaves into the street! If you see Street Sweeping signs posted on your street, please make sure to move your vehicle so any leaves that fell naturally on the street can be properly cleaned.
