Study Purpose

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is conducting a planning study to consider the need for a new interchange on Interstate 64 (I-64) in eastern Jefferson or western Shelby County. The potential interchange would be between I-265 (Gene Snyder Freeway) and KY 1848 (Buck Creek Road) in Shelby County.

This area has experienced considerable growth in recent years and is forecasted to continue growing. In addition to considering a new I-64 interchange, this study will evaluate potential routes connecting US 60 to the north (near Eastwood) to KY 155/KY 148 to the south (near Fisherville).

The two main needs driving the study are: to reduce congestion on the existing roadway network and to improve connectivity to I-64.
