SHERMAN MINTON BRIDGE (I-64) CLOSED FOR REPAIRS

Dear Neighbor,

Early this morning, the Indiana Department of Transportation determined that structural deterioration required the immediate closure of the Sherman Minton Bridge, which carries I-64. All lanes, both eastbound and westbound are closed until the repairs can be made. They did not give have any estimate on a timeline for returning the bridge to service.

Thanks,

Sherman Minton Bridge Closed for Repairs

Bridge

The Sherman Minton Renewal team would like to advise of the immediate closure of the Sherman Minton Bridge in both directions (both top and bottom deck) until further notice.

A component of the bridge deck on the Kentucky approach span was found to be in need of immediate repair before traffic can be permitted to cross the bridge.  This closure will remain in effect until the repair is made.

Please use alternate routes and designated detours. The suggested alternate route will be I-265 and I-65. Regional traffic signs and variable message boards will be posted in the project area, notifying motorists of the closure and alternate route.

Updates will be provided as they become available this week.
