PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD
Metro Council has directed Planning & Design Services and the Planning Commission to review the local ordinances concerning short-term rentals (STRs) and recommend improvements. The STR regulations were first adopted in 2016 and last updated in 2019. The recommended improvements address community feedback received since the 2019 update and issues encountered in administering the regulations.

The recommendations provided on this webpage are preliminary and subject to change upon review of additional public input. To be effective, any changes must be approved by Metro Council. The public comment period will remain open until the Planning Commission public hearing.

The Louisville Metro Council is mid-way through the budget hearings for the proposed FY24 Capital and Operating Budgets.
The deadline to submit online public comments and share your thoughts on the proposed budget has been extended to Friday, June 9, at 12:00 p.m. due to the rescheduling of the Louisville Metro Police Department budget hearing to Thursday, June 8 at 4:00 p.m.
To encourage public participation in the budget process, Metro Council has scheduled a Community Budget Hearing on Tuesday, May 30, in Metro Council Chambers on the third floor of Historic City Hall, 601 W. Jefferson Street.
Speakers may sign up in-person beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30. Sign ups will be open for one hour and will close promptly at 6:30 p.m. Speakers will have up to three minutes to address the Council about the proposed budget.
There is also an online budget comment form, which is an easy way to express your opinions on the proposed budget. The form will close on Friday, June 9. There is a deadline for the online form to allow Metro Council members an opportunity to review all the comments and hearings before making any adjustments to the budget.
The Metro Council will vote on the budget during the regularly scheduled Metro Council meeting on Thursday, June 22, at 6:00 p.m.
