A Message from Councilman Engel

Dear Louisville Metro Residents,

My heart goes out to the families who were directly impacted by the violence and loss of life in our great city on Monday, the very day after Easter.  As someone who works in the downtown area, this is shocking and hits too close to home.  As a father, a friend and a neighbor losing members of our community in this horrific manner is hard to process.  In 1986, I moved here from Wisconsin and this beautiful city and community welcomed me with open arms and has blessed me with the love of my life and our family.  Louisville has become my home and I am truly honored to be able to serve this community as a Metro Council representative. I express my deepest gratitude to our LMPD officers, emergency response teams and government officials.  I know this loss is difficult to process, but I hope this adversity will help bring this community together and make us stronger as we heal.

In response to this terrible tragedy, if you are looking for a way to support those harmed in the mass shooting at Old National Bank, please consider donating blood or giving a financial contribution. Donate blood by visiting www.redcrossblood.org the Red Cross will be able to help you find a blood collection center near you. For residents looking to support Officer Nick Wilt and the recovering officers, please go to the Louisville Police Foundation website at https://saferlouisville.org/ Finally, GoFundMe pages have been created to support the families who lost a loved one or were wounded in this tragedy.  Please join me in keeping these members of our community in our much-needed prayers.

Regards,

Robin J. Engel

Saturday, April 15, 2023

Fern Creek Community Center 6104 Bardstown Road

COME ANYTIME BETWEEN 9:00 A.M. and NOON

We are happy to announce our annual Brightside Spring Community-Wide Cleanup is just around the corner! Brightside, in conjunction with District 22 and The Fern Creek Chamber, is holding our cleanup this Spring. Cleanups are an integral part of Brightside's mission and without the help of your volunteer group, and many other volunteers throughout the year, we could not achieve our goals of a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Louisville. This year's annual District 22 Spring cleanup will take place on Saturday, April 15th. Come to the Fern Creek Community Center, 6104 Bardstown Road anytime between 9am and noon!  A light breakfast will be provided.

We plan to pick up litter along Bardstown Road/Fern Creek Triangle Park, Fern Creek Christian Church/Seatonville Road, Hurstbourne Parkway/Stony Brook, Bardstown Road/Glenmary area.

And if there is a particular area in Fern Creek that you want to help clean, feel free to do so! Volunteers at the event will receive free t-shirts, trash bags, gloves and masks.  The clean-up will last approximately 3 hours.

How can I participate?  Help spread the word! Not everyone receives Councilman Engel's weekly electronic newsletter, so please help us spread the word by sharing this announcement with neighborhood leaders, homeowners’ associations, business groups, boy and girl scout groups, church congregations, sport teams, schools, etc. And don’t forget social media!

The District 22 Cleanup has been recognized as one of the largest clean-up’s events in Louisville Metro.

Persons seeking additional information on this event are encouraged to call the Chamber at 239-7550, or the office of Councilman Robin Engel at 574-1122 or via email robin.engel@louisvilleky.gov or info@ferncreek.org
