"As one of the first women elected to the City of Louisville Board of Aldermen, Mary Margaret kept the public office door open for young women who came behind her," Younger wrote in her nomination.

"She worked hard to help young women get elected to public office. She gave her time and talent to not only a career in Government but to many non-profit boards and commissions including the Coalition for the Homeless, TARC, Elderserve, and University of Louisville. Her outstanding work in our community leaves a legacy of love through service."
