January Service Changes
TARC is implementing minor service changes to Routes #10, #19, #23, and #46. Changes went into effect January 22, 2023.
Route #10: This Dixie BRT (Route #10) will have a minor time adjustment with Northbound routes leaving Dixie Gardens 4 to 5 minutes sooner.
Route #19: This route will no longer service Lexington Road from Baxter to Payne Street. There will be an elimination of four stops Eastbound and Westbound along Lexington Road. The KYTC project on this stretch of Lexington Road requires us to reroute this portion of Route 19.
Route #23: Routes Eastbound and Westbound will have a slight time adjustment to accommodate new service trips to GE Appliance Park. These new service times will enter GEA through the Newburg Neighborhood. Eastbound: new service for GEA will arrive at 12:55 p.m. and 1:40 p.m. Westbound: new service for GEA will arrive at 10:54 p.m.
Route #46: This route will no longer layover inside Iroquois Park. Instead the layover will now be on Alpine Way. There will be an elimination of service on Kenwood Road in both directions. This route will now service Palatka Ave Eastbound and Westbound. Stops along Kenwood Road will be eliminated but the Route 46 will still be in a few blocks walking distance to Route 4 and Route 6.
Pouring hazardous materials in the drain, flushing them down the toilet, or throwing them in the trash has a negative impact on the environment and can be dangerous. When several products are mixed together, chemical reactions can occur, releasing toxic gases and starting fires. Throwing hazardous waste in the garbage poses health and safety risks to sanitation workers.
Where SHOULD household hazardous waste go? The Waste Management District funds a FREE household hazardous waste disposal site for Jefferson County residents called Haz Bin. It is located at 7501 Grade Lane and open year-round Tuesday through Saturday, 9:30am - 4:00pm (Holidays may affect hours.) Dispose of batteries, lawn/garden chemicals, oil-based paints and varnishes, fluorescent light bulbs, and more! Details at Louisvilleky.gov/HazBin.
Not sure if your items are hazardous? Use the search tool on Louisville's Recycle Coach app to find out!.
Pets of the Week
Cat of the Week:
One Eyed Ollie is ready for a furever home! Before coming to the shelter poor Ollie’s eye was injured, so it had to be removed. Ollie was placed with a foster family until he healed and ready to be adopted.
He’s a shy kitten and according to their vet staff, ‘spicy’, so there won’t be any dull moments this 5-month-old. One Eyed Ollie’s adoption fee is waived for an approved adopter, thanks to the Pay It Forward Program. Ollie’s already neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. Ollie is friendly with other cats and dog testing is available by request. For more info about Ollie, call 502-473-PETS. Meet One Eyed Ollie at Animal House Adoption Center, located at 3516 Newburg, 12:00pm - 6:00pm daily. To view all adoptable cats at LMAS, click here. Dog of the Week:
A teenage goofball with lots of personality, that’s what was on CK Dexter Haven’s field trip report. He had a blast spending a day outside of the shelter which included visiting a park and a pet store. He was a very good boy during his outing and proved he’s a tug-o-war champ. CK’s adoption fee is waived for an approved adopter and included is one-year free membership to Club K9 Dog Bar. CK is an approximately one-year-old American Staffordshire mix who weighs 54 lbs. He’s already neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. CK gets along great with other dogs, but he needs a cat-free home. For more info about CK, email animalservicesadoption@louisvilleky.gov. Meet CK Dexter Haven from at Animal House Adoption Center (3516 Newburg Road). To view all adoptable dogs at LMAS, click here.
