Oct 29 | Halloween Parade and Festival

BENEFIT: Bullying Prevention

The Halloween Parade & Festival returns after a two year hiatus on Saturday, October 29th as part of this year’s six-week Ultimate Halloween Fest.

The Festival will take place along Broadway and in the Paristown entertainment district from 12pm-9pm, with the parade starting at 6 pm at the intersection of Baxter & Broadway.

As always, the PARADE IS FREE to the public. This year, the festival has an admission of $5 per person in advance, or $10 per person day of the show. Included with admission: unlimited play in the Family Fun Zone featuring a variety of inflatables and activities for the entire family; full-access to all Jack Daniel's Wicked Garden entertainment from the Blues Brothers, Soul Circus, Freddy & the Cruegers, The Crashers, other live performances and fun festival contests; and full-access to the Halloween and craft vendor zone. Food and refreshments are available at the Village Market, the Cafe, the Garden Bar, and other vendors throughout the festival space.

October is National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month. Proceeds from the Halloween Festival and Parade support the Don’t Be A Monster Program in Kentuckiana.

A Louisville tradition for over 40 years, Boo at the Zoo, presented by Meijer, transforms your Zoo into a living storybook, complete with some of your favorite characters brought to life, fun music and a safe place for trick-or-treating for kids 11 and under. Your party ticket includes all rides, attractions and parking.

To help provide social distancing and to reduce contact, there will be a limited number of treat booths throughout the Zoo. This year, rather than receiving one treat per booth, kids 11 and under will receive multiple treats at each station!

Boo at the Zoo is rain or shine, no refunds or exchanges. All tickets must be purchased in advance here.

Oct 31 | Youth Needed to Join YES!

YES! (Youth Engagement Services) is creating a 26-member Metro Louisville Youth Cabinet. The youth cabinet will serve as the leadership team for all Neighborhood Youth Boards which will be developed in all Metro Council Districts. 

We have not had ANY applicants from the 26th District so far. This is an excellent opportunity for our youth to volunteer - and get paid for it!

The YES! cabinet will work directly with Louisville’s Mayor and Metro Council to offer advice on policy, community building and equity both locally and nationally. There is a $1000 yearly stipend for members of the board.

Cabinet Membership will be selected via a competitive online application process. The deadline for applications has been extended and is now October 31, 2022. The requirements are:

  • Age 16 -24
  • Lives in Louisville
  • Ability to attend mandatory bi-monthly meetings
  • Serve a minimum of one year

Election Day is November 8, and it's time to make a plan to vote. There are multiple ways to vote, including three days of early voting for any registered voter.

Voters with certain excuses can vote at the Jefferson County Election Center through November 2. That includes students who temporarily reside outside Jefferson County.

Early Voting – Thursday, Friday and Saturday, November 3, 4 and 5Any registered voter can vote at any one of seven locations on Thursday, Friday or Saturday next week - November 3, 4 and 5 - from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Election Day – Tuesday, November 8If you haven't voted early, you can vote at your assigned polling place on Election Day, November 8, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. If you are in line at 6 p.m., you will be allowed to vote. Follow the link to see where you vote.

Nov 8 | TARC is FREE on Election Day

TARC is offering fare-free service this Election Day. All routes on TARC will be fare-free on Tuesday, November 8 to provide convenient, free access to and from General Election polling places in Louisville and Southern Indiana.

TARC will operate its normal service on all fixed routes on Election Day. Passengers can skip the fare box and take the route to the stop nearest their polling place or any other destination. Service will also be fare-free for TARC3 paratransit customers on Election Day.
