Junk Set Out and Pickup begins October 14th

household items

One of the questions we frequently get is “when is the next junk pickup?”  It starts this Monday!

If you live in the D9 section of the Urban Services District (USD), you may begin setting out your junk Friday, October 14th in the afternoon. All junk must be set out by Monday, October 17th at 6:00 a.m.

Some items (hazardous materials, construction debris, etc.) are not collected and THESE RULES ARE STRICTLY ENFORCED. We continue to hear from residents who have set out construction debris and are disappointed when it is not collected, and they are forced to remove it. Please avoid this by following collection guidelines: http://louisvilleky.gov/government/public-works/services/junk-and-bulk-trash-disposal.

To sign up for junk set out reminders by email and text, click here! To see if you are in the collection area, go to http://mapit.louisvilleky.gov/, enter your address and check under “sanitation services.”

Mark your calendar and plan to join your neighbors on Saturday, October 22, to clean up the neighborhood at the D9 Fall Community Cleanup.

In partnership with Brightside, volunteers will be working along the Frankfort Avenue corridor, picking up litter, working on tree wells and bus stops and generally making things brighter and cleaner. Volunteers should plan to meet at 9:00 a.m. at the public parking lot at Frankfort and Keats Avenues. The District 9 office will provide bags, gloves, tools and t-shirts on a first-come, first-served basis. You may work wherever you like in D9. If you would like to register your own neighborhood team through Brightside, please click here.

Make a Plan to Vote!

Plan to Vote

Election Day is November 8th, and it is time to make a plan to vote.

There are multiple ways to vote. If you have one of the state-law allowed excuses, you can apply for a mail-in absentee ballot or vote in person starting on October 26. If none of the excuses apply to you, you can still vote early on three designated days before November 8. Of course, you can also vote at your assigned polling place on Election Day, November 8.

Absentee Voting with Excuse

The excuses which allow you to receive and vote with a mail-in absentee ballot are here:  Mail-In Absentee Voting – Elections (jeffersoncountyclerk.org).  Eligible voters include, among other people, a voter who is not able to appear at the polls on Election Day or the days in-person absentee voting is conducted on the account of age, disability, or illness and a student who temporarily resides outside the county of his or her residence. The deadline to apply online for an absentee ballot is October 25, 2022. You can do that here: Home Page - Kentucky State Board of Elections.

Voters with certain excuses can also vote at the Jefferson County Election Center starting on October 26. More about that is here: In-Person Absentee Voting – Elections (jeffersoncountyclerk.org).

Early Voting

Any registered voter can vote at one of seven locations on November 3, 4 and 5 from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. Locations are on this page, under “In-person No-excuse Absentee (Early) Voting”.

Election Day – November 8

Most of us will vote at our assigned polling place on Election Day, November 8, from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. You can find your polling location here: Where Do I Vote? (jeffersoncountyclerk.org)
