KY 1819 (Watterson Trail) Closure Set for This Week in Jefferson County

The closure has been extended for an additional day

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (June 28, 2022) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of the complete closure of a section of KY 1819 (Watterson Trail) this week in the Jeffersontown area.

KY 1819 will be closed from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29, and Thursday, June 30, between Bluegrass Parkway at mile point 11.7 and Bunsen Way at mile point 11.1. (The closure was originally scheduled for Wednesday only.)

There will be no thru traffic; local traffic only. Businesses can be accessed by turning onto KY 1819 from Bluegrass Parkway. The closure is for shoulder stabilization and a cross drain replacement on the southern end of the project, near Bunsen Way. Posted detour: Bunsen Way to Plantside Drive to Bluegrass Parkway to Watterson Trail and vice versa.

Motorists should use caution when crossing the newly replaced cross drains. Crews will place a layer of dense grade rock on the drains until asphalt can be poured. The date and duration of this work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur. Visit goky.ky.gov for the latest in traffic and travel information in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
