FridayFest features local music, local food trucks, and community socializing every other Friday, throughout the summer, from 6-10pm at Highview Park. Sheryl Rouse is one of the most talented and energetic performers in the world. She was born in LaGrange, North Carolina and she is now a resident of Louisville, Kentucky. She relocated to Kentucky in 2001 with her wonderful husband and three, beautiful children. She has been singing and entertaining audiences since the tender age of three. She has been compared to the likes of Gladys Knight, Patti LaBelle, and Aretha Franklin and has performed with artists such as: Al Green, Eddie LeVert, Shirley Murdock, Frankie Beverly, Lenny Williams, and so many others all across the United States.

Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer and representatives of the Louisville Metro Office for Safe and Healthy Neighborhoods (OSHN) are urging city residents to join in a March for Our Lives rally and march against gun violence at 1 p.m. this Saturday (June 11, 2022) at Metro Hall, 527 W. Jefferson St.

Event participants include JCPS Justice Now students, WE Day Kentucky, The ACE Project, Moms Demand Action-Kentucky chapter, Mothers of Murdered Sons & Daughters (MOMS), among others. Many of them, along with Louisville Metro Government agencies, will have booths set up outside Metro Hall where participants can get information on ways to get involved in the work to end gun violence and resources for those affected by it.

Saturday’s youth-centric rally and march coincides with  a number of events happening in Washington D.C. and cities across the U.S. on Saturday in the wake of another series of mass shootings in the nation.

The rally will begin at 1 p.m., with speakers including Mayor Fischer, U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth and others, as well as several youth speakers and Rose Smith, whose son, Cory “Ace” Crow, was shot to death in Louisville in 2014. Smith is a volunteer for the Kentucky chapter of Moms Demand Action and founder of the local ACE (Act Compassionately Everyday) project, designed to bring a sense of healing to the community.

After remarks at Metro Hall, the group will march down Sixth Street to the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Plaza at Sixth and Chestnut streets (outside the Ramona L. Mazzoli Federal Building), to underscore demands that federal legislators implement proactive, common-sense measures to end the scourge of violence.

The group will then walk back to Metro Hall for a closing song performed by local youth.

March For Our Lives was created by, inspired by and is led by students across the country who’ve said they will no longer risk their lives waiting for someone else to take action to stop the epidemic of mass school shootings that has become all too familiar.

1. BBB has received multiple reports of job recruiter scams. Some scammers claim to represent legitimate companies. Avoid “recruiters” who ask you to download an app to do an interview and be wary of any interview where a job is offered instantly or where the recruiter asks for personal and bank account information upfront. Also, research the company first and check their website to see if they are actually hiring.
2. BBB continues to receive reports on Navis Worldwide, a scam company that advertises work-from-home package inspector jobs. This is a reshipping scam. Reshipping scams masquerade as work-from-home opportunities that involve the job applicant receiving, inspecting, and shipping out packages from their home address.
3. Consumers have reported receiving text messages that Indiana Workforce has sent them funds. The text messages contain a link, which has the potential to contain malware. Don’t click on it!
4. Consumers continue to report scam phone calls claiming to represent Amazon Customer Service. Amazon will not call you to verify charges to your account. If you receive a suspicious call, text, or message claiming to be from Amazon, go directly to com to check the status of your account and to contact their customer support directly.
5. Consumers are receiving text messages promoting advance fee loans, and scammers are asking consumers to purchase gift cards from stores like Walgreens and Walmart in order to receive the loans. Do not agree to pay money or gift cards up front in order to receive a loan or grant; this is a scam and you will not receive any money in return.
6. A local consumer was offered a car wrap job opportunity. The consumer was advised they would receive a check in order to pay for their vehicle to be wrapped. This is a fake check scam. BBB is not aware of any legitimate job offers that send checks to applicants and ask them to send money to a third party.
7. A local consumer fell prey to a moving scam and lost several thousands of dollars in checks and possessions after hiring movers on Craigslist. Before hiring movers, research moving companies first on org. Get everything in writing, and keep an up-to-date inventory of your belongings.
8. BBB warns of scammers offering too-good-to-be-true deals on dental equipment like retainers and veneers. Research companies before you buy, pay with a credit card in case you need to dispute a charge, and avoid deals that seem too good to be true.
9. BBB warns of scammers hacking Facebook accounts and sending messages claiming the recipient is on a list of people who are owed workers’ compensation. The messages provide a name and number of an agent. If you receive a similar message, delete it (and notify your friend their Facebook account may have been hacked!).
10. BBB warns of online shopping scams related to the national baby formula shortage. Before buying formula online, check org for the company’s rating, use a credit card, and be especially cautious of ads on social media.  

LGBTQ+ Pride Month is celebrated each year in June with events throughout the United States.  In Louisville, the 2022 Kentuckiana Pride Festival and Parade will take place downtown on June 18, with the festival on the Big Four Lawn at Waterfront Park.

Louisville talent performing on the festival's two stages include Most Wanted, Louisville Gay Men's Chorus, drag performances hosted by Leah Halston and more. Many vendors will also be on hand.

While the parade is free, entry into the festival is $5. The parade starts at the corner of Campbell and Market at Noon on Saturday, June 18, turns onto Preston and finishes at the Big Four Lawn.
