Ordinance signed banning unlawful discharge of firearms in Louisville Metro
Above, Mayor Greg Fischer signed an ordinance to ban the unlawful discharge of firearms in the city Thursday morning.
The ordinance makes it a misdemeanor to fire a gun within 300 feet of a public road or alley or at a structure capable of being occupied within 300 feet of the person firing the weapon.
Unless otherwise permitted by Kentucky law or on a properly zoned and licensed firing range, no person in Louisville Metro shall discharge a firearm
Councilman Mulvihill, one of the sponsors of the resolution, spoke as Councilmember Nicole George, Krista Gwynn, mother of shooting victims, LMPD Chief Erika Shields, Councilman Bill Hollander, and Mayor Fischer looked on.
