Councilwoman Holton Stewart will be hosting two clean-up groups on Saturday, April 16 at 9:45am:

  • Group 1 - Meet at the corner of New Cut Road and 3rd Street Road, then move to Southside Drive & Strawberry Lane
  • Group 2 - Meet at the corner of Dixie Highway and Valley Station Road, then move to East Pages & 3rd Street Road

We need your help to report potholes:

  1. Use an online form by clicking here.
  2. Use Twitter by sending the location of the hole to @LouMetro311 and include the hashtag #502pothole.
  3. Call Metro311 or 574-5000 to report potholes or any other issues.
  4. To report a pothole on an interstate in Jefferson County, go to the “contact us” dropdown menu and select “report a hazard” on KYTC’s website http://transportation.ky.gov or click here.

Forest Fest is Back - May 21st

Forest Fest returns in 2022 after a two year hiatus!

We are excited to announce, after a 2 year hiatus, the return of Jefferson Memorial’s 15th Annual Forest Fest on Saturday, May the 21st.  

We are anticipating a large attendance this year upon Forest Fest's return and the desire for live music by the community.


Brightside Community-Wide Cleanup

The Spring Community-Wide Cleanup is happening Saturday, April 16th! Be a part of this city-wide event to keep Louisville looking bright and beautiful by finding more information here. Registration will open February 28th.

We encourage all residents make a difference by taking part in our Community-Wide Cleanup-- it is a great service opportunity for boy/girl scouts, sports teams, faith groups, community organizations, and corporate teams. 

Neighborhoods can hold their own cleanups at any point throughout the year and we can provide gloves and bags for each Neighborhood Cleanup. We will work with Solid Waste Management to have the collected litter bags picked up. Give us a call at (502) 574-2613 or register online about two weeks prior to your event to schedule your cleanup and for information about getting supplies. 


Southend Beautification Campaign - Call for Volunteers & Trees!

Southend Beautification Campaign – Tree Planting with Louisville Grows and Brightside will be held April 8th and 9th. We will be planting in the Southland Park, Southside, and Iroquois (including along New Cut) Neighborhoods 167 trees thanks to an MSD grant.

April 9th is 8:30am-2pm (Neighborhood Volunteer Day).

“I’m so thankful to all the corporate sponsors and partners helping to make District 25 a more beautiful place to live and work,” said Councilwoman Holton Stewart. “I hope people will come join us for this planting event, and that it will be an inspiration to plant more trees in their own neighborhoods as well.” 

Louisville Grows needs neighbors and community members to volunteer to canvass door-to-door to get tree commitments.

South Louisville Art Crawl

The Southwest Dream Team and The Fund for the Arts invite the community to participate in the South Louisville Art Crawl this Sunday.

The Art Crawl will showcase the unique artists and businesses all over South Louisville, and it’s the perfect way to wrap up Spring Break.

The free trolley tours will make several stops featuring businesses and artists in South Louisville from 2:00-4:30 p.m., then everyone is encouraged to grab dinner and enjoy live entertainment from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Colonial Gardens. Finally, Kentucky Shakespeare’s free performance of Julius Caesar will start at 6:30 p.m. in Iroquois Park.

WHAT: South Louisville Art Crawl

WHEN: Sunday, April 10, 2:00-8:00 p.m.

WHERE: Trolley tours start from the Iroquois Amphitheater parking lot (1080 Amphitheater Road)

Free Tax Preparation Service for Eligible Louisville Residents

VITA and AARP Tax Aide programs provide trained, IRS-certified volunteers to offer free tax services online or at select drop-off sites. VITA is available to individuals and families who earned less than $66,000 in 2021. AARP Tax-Aide’s mission is to serve any person who comes through the door, with special attention to those 60 and older. 

January 24 is the first official day for filing tax returns this season. This year, due to the COVID pandemic, several of the VITA sites will prepare in-person free tax filing by appointments only, and most of the sites will provide free tax filing through drop-off services. Individuals can visit getyourrefund.org to have their taxes prepared online.

To help preparers accurately determine EITC eligibility and prepare returns, individuals should bring:

  • Other 1099s for interest, dividends, state tax refund or other income
  • Form 1099-G for any unemployment compensation received during the year
  • 1095-A for health insurance
  • 1098 for education credit, plus a detailed financial statement from the school
  • Bank account number and routing number for direct deposit as well as savings account number (if applicable)
  • If you do not have a bank account, we can help you open a Bank On certified account.
  • Childcare information, including Provider ID and actual amounts paid
  • Summarized list of other income/expenses for those who itemize or are self-employed
  • Additional tax information that may be required
