Yes, you read the heading correctly and I promise this isn't an April fools joke!  

Metro Public Works Department will be completing a reconstruction project on Aiken Road between N. Beckley Station and Johnson Road.

Most of the work will occur from Johnson Rd. to the bridge. In order to complete this work safely, they will need to shut down the roadway.  We understand that people live off Aiken Rd., so they will maintain local access. Their will be a detour route, you can find that map below. 

The project as it stands, will begin on Monday 4/4 and go through 4/8, then they will reopen the roadway for the weekend.  The following week, 4/11, we will need to close the road again to  complete the remainder of repairs. 

Note: the scheduled work may be affected by rain, inclement weather or other unforeseen factors.
