Germantown Baseball Parade postponed due to cold weather forecast

Germantown Baseball parade

We were sorry to hear that the 70th Annual Germantown Baseball Parade and opening day tomorrow has been postponed.

With cold temperatures in the forecast, it's going to be too chilly for a kids' parade. Organizers hope to reschedule the parade in May.

For details, visit the Germantown Baseball Facebook page or Germantown Baseball Inc. page.

Work progresses on Hope Village pilot program

Mayor at Hope

Above, Mayor Greg Fischer and Stachelle Bussey, Founder and Executive Director of The Hope Buss, walked through the Hope Village space Thursday.

Mayor Fischer and representatives of The Hope Buss and the Louisville Metro Office of Resilience and Community Services yesterday provided an update on progress on The Hope Village, a pilot program to provide a safe outdoor space for residents experiencing homelessness.

Work to prepare and outfit the College Street site was more extensive than initially thought, and though complicated by supply issues and weather conditions, project leaders have kept the project moving forward. The Mayor said it should open by March 31, barring any issues outside the city’s control, like weather and supply chain challenges. Learn more.

Save the date: April 16 - Give A Day for the Jim King Trail with the Louisville Zoo

The Louisville Zoo will be participating in the Mayor’s Give a Day project this year on Saturday, April 16 with a cleanup along the Jim King Trail.

The Jim King Trail runs behind the Zoo’s property and along Bear Grass Creek. The path is approximately one mile starting at the Zoo’s Bus Lot and ending at the entrance to the Kensington neighborhood.

Between 8 and 11 a.m., volunteers will clean up and tidy up this natural area along the pathway. All participants will need to sign in and complete a Zoo Volunteer Waiver. For more information and to RSVP, email:  Marguerite.Esrock@louisvilleky.gov.
