April 16th – Brightside Community-Wide Cleanup

We encourage all residents to take part in the spring 2022 Brightside Community-Wide Cleanup on Saturday, April 16th. The event is a great service opportunity for boy/girl scouts, sports teams, faith groups and community organizations. It could also be a corporate team bonding opportunity!  All volunteer groups will receive Brightside litter bags, gloves, and Brightside will coordinate with our partners at Louisville Metro Solid Waste to remove collected bags at the conclusion of your cleanup.  Brightside is also happy to help groups choose an area to cleanup should you need assistance. Cleanups are an integral part of Brightside's mission and without the help of volunteer groups, and many other volunteers throughout the year, Brightside could not achieve their goals of a cleaner, greener Louisville. Thanks to each and every volunteer who supports the Brightside Community-Wide Cleanup, for your time and dedication – we can’t do it without you!  For more information or to register your cleanup group visit www.brightsideinc.org/brightside-community-wide-cleanup or call (502)574-2613.

Pets of the Week

chico

Help a shelter dog get lucky. All large dog adoptions are free the month of March and include a free dog crate for approved adopters. Chico is an approximately five-year-old Weimaraner/Labrador Retriever mix who is a very friendly, mature adult who won’t mistake your remote for a chew toy. This laidback handsome fellow has been friendly with other shelter dogs and can be tested with potential fur siblings by request. A meet and greet is mandatory for families with children. Chico weighs about 70lbs. He’s already neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations. For more info about Chico, email animalservicesadoption@louisvilleky.gov. To meet or adopt Chico, visit Animal House Adoption Center located at 3516 Newburg Road, from 12:00-6:00pm daily. No appointment necessary.

kessinger

This big guy doesn't throw his weight around because he's just one big scaredy paws. Kessinger, an approximately 3-year-old Rottweiler, isn't sure about a lot of things like new people, leashes, shots - but one thing he's never unsure about are vienna sausages. They've been the key to getting Kessinger to open up and trust shelter staff and now, Kessinger needs someone who understands his breed to adopt and give him a charmed life. Kessinger's adoption fee is waived for an approved adopter and a free dog crate is included, thanks to the Pay It Forward Program. Kessinger weighs 81 lbs. He's already neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. Dog and cat testing are available by request. For more info about Kessinger, email animalservicesadoption@louisvilleky.gov. Meet Kessinger at Animal House Adoption Center (3705 Manslick Road) from 12:00-6:00pm daily.
