 Repairs to Uppill Road are scheduled to begin the week of November 1st, and are expected to continue until November 12th, although work is weather dependent. Due to safety concerns, Uppill Road will be closed to vehicles, bikes and pedestrians. Parks posted a notice on their Facebook page, which we have shared to pages of various park user groups, and well as neighborhood groups. Parks will be putting posters in the park kiosks shortly, and will install some temporary yard signs as well.

Dear Neighbor: Our client, Valley Hope Center, LLC, proposes to use the property at 10803 Deering Road as a Rehabilitation Home. Our client has partnered with Isaiah House, a Christian recovery organization, to provide counseling and other services at the subject property. Rehabilitation Homes are allowed in the R-4 zoning district upon the granting of a Conditional Use Permit by the Louisville Metro Board of Zoning Adjustment. The proposed development will not result in many changes to the subject property, as it will use the existing buildings and grounds with as few modifications as possible.

Through its "Another Way Mission," Goodwill Industries will start working with the Clean Collaborative on November 7.
ANOTHER WAY MISSION: Mission of Another Way is to provide a workforce strategy that includes opportunities or individuals to gain job skills training and work-based learning opportunities rather than directly engaging other people for money on sidewalks and other rights of way. Another Way Team will canvass highly trafficked areas known for panhandling and offer up to 13 individuals daily the opportunity to work or 5 hours and earn $50 compensation for their time. Individuals will return daily to Goodwill’s Career Resource Center there they will have the opportunity to address barriers and connect to both internal and external resources.
The Metro Public Works free leaf drop-off sites will be open Tuesday-Saturdays, November 9 through December 11. Drop-off will not be available on November 25 and 26 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Only loose leaves will be accepted. Containers used to bring leaves to the drop-off sites must be taken back by residents.

 The committee prioritized equal representation when creating the proposed boundaries
Louisville – After months of work and careful consideration, the Metro Council Ad Hoc Committee on Redistricting presented its proposal for redrawing the Metro Council district maps based on the 2020 U.S. Census data during a special meeting on Thursday, October 21.
The Census shows Jefferson County’s population grew from 741,096 in 2010 to 782,969 in 2020. Along with the population growth, the county also experienced a population shift over the last 10 years with more people moving from west to east Louisville.
The committee prioritized equal representation across all 26 council districts when redrawing these boundaries, with a median population of 30,114 people per district.

Timeline
The redistricting ordinance will be filed on October 25. The committee will host a meeting with public comment on October 27. Metro Council intends to vote on the maps on November 11.

Louisville Metro Government’s Accelerator Team today issued a request for information (RFI) proposal for Workforce Development programming, outlined in August as one of the top priorities for American Rescue Plan (ARP) funding. The information gathered from this RFI process will be used to develop a request for applications (RFA) for Workforce Development.
“As the city continues to rebound from the recession faced during the height of the pandemic, it remains critical that funding be repositioned and focused to further invest in our workforce,” said Mayor Fischer. “This includes working diligently to create an economic ecosystem that creates opportunities by partnering with various organizations who manage workforce development programs focused on strengthening our economy and improving the lives of our residents.”
Louisville Metro is seeking proposals from organizations that align with the following outcomes:
- Reducing unemployment;
- Developing skills needed for high-growth industries and a 21st century workforce;
- Growing our workforce to adequately meet the needs of current and future employers;
- Catching up to and exceeding the growth in technology jobs compared to peer cities;
- Aligning job skills with projected job growth in Louisville’s key sectors (especially healthcare and technology); and
- Increasing the median income in Jefferson County and outpacing the national average.
In total, Metro Government has been allocated $388 million in ARP Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery Funds, approved by Congress to meet the most urgent needs of communities across the country as they rebuild from the devastating impact of the COVID-19 global pandemic.
The city’s plan for the remaining $340 million was outlined in August with a focus on four priority areas: Homelessness and Affordable Housing, Workforce, Healthy Louisville/Healthy Neighborhoods and Public Safety.
Those organizations interested in submitting a proposal are encouraged to register for Bonfire, a strategic sourcing software that digitizes and streamlines the entire RFI and RFA processes, thus making it more efficient and compliant.
Proposals will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Nov. 3rd, 2021.
Registering for Bonfire will allow access to quickly upload documents and other supplementary information requested by the RFI. This web-based tool will also allow users to get real-time notification of the RFI request and other notifications in the future.

 Programs offer financial incentives to recruit and retain Corrections staff
The Louisville Metro Department of Corrections (LMDC) Director Dwayne Clark today announced three pilot projects designed to boost recruitment and retention of LMDC sworn staff.
The three pilot projects were developed in partnership with unions representing LMDC civilian and sworn staff, represented by FOP Corrections Union Lodge 77 and AFSCME Local 2629:
- The first pilot project will provide financial incentives to LMDC employees who refer a candidate for sworn staff employment at Corrections. The incentives will be staggered as the recruit moves from training to swearing in, with a potential total of $1,050.00. The staggered method, with incentives increasing as the candidate moves through the process, is also designed to encourage staff to mentor their recruits and to be invested in the recruit’s success.
- The second pilot project provides a hiring incentive to new recruits of $2,000.00, with successful candidates receiving $1,000.00 when they are sworn in and another $1,000.00 when they complete a probationary period.
- The third pilot project aims to improve retention among sworn and civilian LMDC staff. Eligible employees who continue their employment with Corrections can receive up to $2,000.00 in Fiscal Year 2022, which began July 1. Eligible employees working today on Sept. 1, 2021, will receive $1,000.00. All of those eligible employees who are still working on June 1, 2022, will receive an additional $1,000.00.
All three pilot efforts are designed to work in conjunction with one another. For now, the year-long pilot projects will operate only at Corrections. If successful, they could serve as models for other Metro Government public service agencies.
