Everyone encouraged to Wear Masks Indoors or Outdoors

Publication1

According to Dr. SarahBeth Hartlage, events are the top setting where people report they may have been exposed to the virus before testing positive. These events include family-and-friend gatherings, concerts, sporting games and practices, restaurants and church.

“One thing we have seen more frequently is people mentioning outdoor places and events where they may have been exposed or while they were infectious,” Dr. Hartlage said. “I would encourage everyone to reduce their risk of being exposed to the virus by wearing a mask regardless of vaccination status when they’re in large groups of people outdoors or indoors.”

COVID-19 Utility Relief Fund for LWC/MSD

Louisville Water Company

Metro is adding $2.5 million to its COVID-19 Utility Relief program to help residents who have fallen behind on Louisville Water and Louisville MSD bills as a result of COVID-19.
The funds will go toward the Louisville Water Company/MSD’s Drops of Kindness program to assist residents with a past-due amount on an active Louisville Water/MSD account. The outstanding balance must have occurred between March 16, 2020 and June 30, 2021, and customers will need to attest they have had a financial hardship during the pandemic.
Qualifying customers can receive a one-time credit of up to $1,000 on their Louisville Water/MSD bill.
Funding for this assistance comes from the Louisville’s first round of spending of its federal American Rescue Plan (ARP) dollars, which were targeted at urgent needs.
“Many of the people being helped by our COVID-19 Utility Relief program have never fallen behind on their bills before the pandemic impacted their jobs and their hours,” Mayor Fischer said. “We are grateful that the ARP funding allows us to help them get back on track.”

How to apply:

For more information on both programs, residents can visit http://www.louisvilleky.gov/government/resilience-and-community-services, call Metro United Way’s help referral service at 211, or Metro311 by simply dialing 311 or (502) 574-5000 or email metro.311@louisvilleky.gov.

Volunteer Coaches needed for a fall Soccer League

logo parks

Metro Parks is running a fall soccer league that is slated to begin the middle part of September. They need volunteer coaches. As it stands right now, they have approximately 125 kids signed up for the league. Parks could use 7-10 more coaches to help fill out the teams. The time commitment is not too intensive. The commitment is two hours per week for six weeks. Kids are novice players ages 5-10. Games are at Petersburg, Wyandotte and Shawnee parks.

Here’s a link to signups for volunteer coaches. It’s not necessary to be an expert on soccer to be a part of this! We just need good role models and adults who are willing to engage our youth. MyImpactPage - Louisville Parks and Recreation (betterimpact.com)
