Recycling collection changes begin next week
Recycling collection in the Urban Services District (USD) begins a bi-weekly schedule next week.
Recycling will occur during the weeks of July 12, July 26, August 9, August 23, September 6, September 20 and so forth. Garbage and yard waste will still be collected on a weekly basis.
Any household that participated in recycling during the waste container audit and did NOT already have a 65- or 95-gallon recycling cart should be receiving a larger, blue-topped cart. If carts have been delivered on your street, you are a recycler, you do not already have a 65- or 95-gallon recycling cart and you did not receive one, please fill out the online form to let Public Works know.
If you have more recycling than your container holds, you may purchase an additional recycling cart from the Public Works website. You may also use a store-bought container as long as it is 30 to 40 gallon capacity, has handles, has a lid, and is labeled "RECYCLING." Stickers to label these containers are free and available from the Solid Waste office at 600 Meriwether Avenue, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Or contact Public Works to request one.

Public input sought for American Rescue Plan
Louisville Metro is receiving $388 million from the American Rescue Plan State and Local Fiscal Recovery funds.
Metro Council appropriated a relatively small portion of the funds last month, focusing on health-related needs, eviction prevention, utility assistance and additional downtown “ambassadors."
The bulk of the funds remain to be distributed and Metro Council is seeking public input. Learn more about the funds and comment on your priorities for funding at this page.
There will also be in-person opportunities to publicly voice your opinion on how the ARP monies should be spent. Please check the Louisville Metro Council Clerk's Website for a schedule of these meetings and to access a Council-sponsored comment form
The Committee will meet on Tuesday, July 13 at 3 p.m. to hear testimony about eligible uses of the funds and to begin discussing priority areas. No decisions about funding will be made at the meeting.
