There will be no waste collection on Monday, July 5. All garbage, recycling, and yard waste will be collected on a one-day delay. 

Residents who rely on private waste haulers should consult those haulers about holiday collection schedules.

The Waste Reduction Center, our staffed recycling drop-off locations, and the Haz Bin hazardous waste disposal site, will be closed on Saturday, July 3. A map and complete list of the drop-off sites and regular operating hours can be found at our website

The Fan Fair giveaway qualifications and guidelines are as follows:

Louisville Zoo is inviting guests to travel back 65 to 200 million years in time to visit their newest prehistoric animal ambassadors – 19 life-sized robotic dinosaurs in “Dino Quest” presented by Great Clips. From Saturday, June 26, until Sunday, Sept. 19, Zoo guests can experience the world’s largest, most lifelike robotic dinosaur exhibit, free with admission to the Zoo.

Permanent residents of Kentucky who have received at least the first dose of the Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccines or the one dose of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine are eligible. Permanent residents of Kentucky are eligible even if they received the vaccine in a different state.

Entry into the drawing must be completed at here. Entry requires your name, birthdate, email address, phone number, home address and the name and location of the place that provided you with the vaccine. The city’s Meals on Wheels continues to operate delivering to more than 1240 homebound senior clients once per week with a five-frozen meal pack until daily, meal delivery can resume.  

Louisville’s senior congregate meal sites, which provide a nutritious lunch, socialization and activities for residents age 60 and over will begin reopening in stages by the end of the month. 

“We all look forward to being able to get back together, and we are excited to provide these nutritious meals on site to our seniors,” said Marvita Starks, program manager for the city’s Senior Nutrition Program.  “But even more important than the meals, is the social connection and wellbeing this service helps to foster among older residents.”

After careful consideration, the Riverview Independence Festival for 2021 has been cancelled.

We know that our Southwest Community is eager to gather together in celebration as our community heals from a year of turmoil and uncertainty. There will be plenty of opportunities to do so this summer and fall, but we are disappointed that it will not be at Riverview Festival this summer.

In Louisville Metro, it is the responsibility of the person living in a home to keep the front and rear of the property clean. This area extends from the middle of the street out front to the middle of any alleyways to the rear or side of the property. This applies to litter as well as plants and trees that could impede the alleyway or street. Inspections, Permits and Licenses (IPL) could cite and possibly impose a fine if you've got a lot of debris and plant overgrowth. Get directly involved in making Louisville a more litter-free community through the Report-A-Litterer program aimed at motorists who throw fast-food wrappers, cigarette butts, soda bottles or any type of litter out their car window. 

Report the license plate number to 311 to be verified (including a description of the vehicle) through the County Clerk's Office.  The owner of the vehicle will receive a letter saying that someone reported seeing litter being thrown from their vehicle, and reminding the owner that littering is punishable by a fine of up to $500 and/or up to a year in jail. An automobile litter bag also will accompany each letter.
