The 2020 and 2021 school years presented unique and unprecedented challenges to the more than 130,000 students in the JCPS, Archdiocese, private and independent schools in Louisville. Of these, our seniors had to not only master the expected requirements to graduate, but had to learn new paths to academic, athletic, personal and social success due to COVID 19 closures and restrictions. Of all of these students, the teachers and administrators of our 54 area high schools selected one pupil who would be recognized by Mayor Greg Fischer as a Kentucky Lottery Outstanding High School Senior for 2021. We salute them here and wish them continued success as they embark on a new journey beyond high school and invite them to then invest back into Louisville after completing the next milestone of college, service in the US Armed Forces, technical or vocational school training or whatever path they choose to follow as they continue their road to becoming productive, active and engaged citizens of our community.
