Council Recap: Neighborhood Nights!

Dear District 8,

First off, a huge thank you to all of the District 8 folks who participated in the public budget hearings. It was great to hear from so many of you about the causes you care about. I hope you all will continue to engage as the budget cycle progresses—you can see the schedule for the remaining budget hearings at this link.

Second, I am excited to invite you to join us Wednesday, June 16th for the inaugural Neighborhood Nights in the Highlands!  Bring your friends and family to trolley-hop, enjoy live music, and support our fantastic local businesses and restaurants up and down Bardstown Road. The free trolley will run along Bardstown Road and Baxter Avenue between Broadway and the Douglass Loop, and stops will be clearly marked. More details in the graphic below.

We are especially excited to announce that there will be a FREE (!) COVID-19 vaccine clinic at Neighborhood Nights, thanks to our partners Norton Healthcare and Douglass Blvd. Christian Church. The pop-up clinic will operate on June 16 from 2pm-6pm, and Pfizer First Doses will be available to individuals 12 & up. Appointments recommended for fastest service, but walk-ins are also welcome. Visit https://nortonhealthcare.com/vaccineevents to schedule. Please bring a photo I.D. and health insurance card if you have coverage. Children under 18 must have a parent or guardian present to consent.

A big thank you to all of the neighborhood associations and the District 8 Advisory Board for joining us in sponsoring Neighborhood Nights (you can see a list of them in the graphic below), and a special shoutout to the Neighborhood Nights Committee for their work. We hope to have Neighborhood Nights the third Wednesday of each month from now through November.

Finally, we have tallied the results of last month’s newsletter survey, and the majority of respondents said they preferred to hear from us once a month. So we will stick with our first Friday of the month plan for now, and reevaluate if we feel like we aren’t able to provide as timely information to you all as we need to.

As always, thanks for reading, and be in touch with questions. Megan and I love to hear from you all!

Best wishes,

Cassie
