LouVax arena chapter comes to a close, focus shifts fully to mobile missions

On Tuesday, the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness' LouVax site commemorated it's 100,000th vaccination dose.
Dr. SarahBeth Hartlage, Associate Medical Director for Metro Health and Wellness said the site's achievements wouldn't be possible without the efforts of volunteers contributing their time.
Since January 4th, 76,074 volunteer hours were accumulated from 2,572 volunteers ranging from ages 18 to 84, comprised of pharmacists, physicians, nurses, students and residents across the Metro area.
"It is truly incredible that we have carried out an operation of this size with volunteers," Dr. Hartlage said. "But let's not forget the Metro staff who bring leadership and continuity to LouVax."
Here are the key COVID-19 data metrics for the week of April 26, 2021:
- There were 599 new cases over the previous week
- 11.2 cases per 100,000 population

Health Officials Encourage Safety Heading into Derby Weekend
With the 147th Kentucky Derby here, Metro Health and Wellness would like to remind Louisvillians of health and safety guidelines ahead of this weekends festivities.
On Tuesday, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released updated guidelines detailing activities that fully vaccinated people can safely resume.
Dr. Sarah Moyer, Louisville's Chief Health Strategist encourages everyone to get tested before and after gatherings and travel.
Vaccine supply exceeds demand and appointments are available from Metro Health and Wellness' healthcare and community partners at louisvilleky.gov/vaccine.

LouVax Mobile Missions Bring Vaccines to the Community
On Saturday, April 24th the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness joined community health partners for two mobile vaccination clinics bringing access to residents in familiar settings.
The mobile missions were held at Americana World Community Center and at Hope Wellness Center. At the conclusion of the mobile clinics 224 individuals were vaccinated.
LouVax-Mobile Missions are tailored to a specific group, neighborhood, demographic or organization. They can serve as few as 10 patients or as many as 1,000.

Here are the key stats for vaccinations in Metro Louisville:
- Citywide, 618,248 total doses have been administered between the LouVax site and its healthcare system community partners, Norton Healthcare, UofL Health and Baptist Health. Of that total number, 256,622 have completed both doses
- Through its LouVax site, the Louisville Department of Public Health and Wellness has given 110,456 doses to date. Of that number 60,961 have been primary doses and 49,495 have completed the two-shot series
