This year the Louisville Zoo Staff and area neighbors are taking on a Mayor’s Give A Day Conservation Project. This clean-up will be along Beargrass Creek and the Jim King Trail from the Zoo to Schuff Lane.

The clean-up will be Saturday, April 17 from 8 a.m.to noon. If it is not finished, Saturday, April 24, from 8 to 10 a.m. will be added to the schedule.

Supplies will be handed out in the Zoo’s Bus Lot. Volunteers need to bring their own work gloves and dress for the weather and possible muddy conditions. Neighbors are welcome to participate! Waivers will need to be signed by non-staff volunteers.

April 17 - Schnitzelburg Area Community Council Clean-Up

SACC logo

Following last week's rainy weather, the Schnitzelburg Area Community Council Clean-Up is Saturday, April 17 from 9 a.m. to noon.

SACC and Brightside will provide gloves, bags, and grabbers. Come to The Merryweather at 1101 Lydia Street any time between 9 and 11 a.m. to pick up your supplies. You decide where you pick up!

Anyone who brings a partially or fully filled trash bag back to The Merryweather by noon may enjoy special perks for the day and their name will be entered to win a Merryweather merch package. More information is at the SACC Facebook page

If you can't make it, we encourage you to take a little time when you are able to clean up the area around your house. Every little bit helps! Questions? Send an email to: sacc@schnitzelburg.org

Councilman Mulvihill thanks SACC President Jennifer Chappell, SACC members and the Merryweather for their commitment to improving the neighborhood.

If you have a different clean-up area in mind, or if you need to volunteer virtually, the annual Mayor’s Give A Day continues through April 31. Learn more.

With support from Metro United Way and community organizations throughout the city, hundreds of volunteer opportunities will be available. Group and individual projects will be offered, some may be virtual, while others will be in-person in compliance with CDC and state COVID-19 guidelines to protect the health and safety of participants, and many will be outdoors.
